Race Car
f boxster are really great car
Good power/weight ratio
Can be competitive againts g, h , i class if your a good driver.
Good for DE as well. Yes the newer car will pass you on a straight line like if your were parked but the fun starts in the corners.

Thinking about building or buying a Boxster S for Stock class F. Would use for DE for 2017 and start club racing 2018.
Other than the donor car, is there any real difference in the build assuming a 2002-2004 Boxster S as a starting point? I've seen suspension kits for Spec Boxster from Tarret and Tune RS. I assume these would work for a F as well.
Any insight into the differences bewtween these two builds would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

And if I'm not mistaken there are some small suspension geometry differences between the Gen 1 Boxster and the 200-2004 car so be careful buy components.
That being said the F Boxster is a strong car for the class and the SPB is a hoot as well.

A: Anyone know which of these builds has greater versatility beyond PCA clubs?
Specifically:
1. Does the F-Class Box have a racing category in SCCA or NASA?
2. SPB-class cars have been placed in T3 with SCCA, but is there a NASA class for them?
B: If anyone has any actual info /or educated guesses on the comparison of costs per weekend between these two classes I'm all ears. Seems to me tires and suspension would be the obvi greater costs for the F class cars, just wondering what this might translate into dollars-wise?
C: Which is FUNNER? Anyone who's sampled both?

No concrete answer on A, but for B. I would say it's a wash on the suspension as once it's purchased the cost doesn't effect the race weekend. Other than that the set of Hoosiers will run a few hundred more per weekend (only need one new set). Personally I only run a new set of Toyos every other race but I may try a new set for each race this year.. Transaxle is a little stouter in the newer Boxster S so you may consider the SPB gearbox expendable after 5 races at a cost of about 200 per weekend or so..
