Default PCA Clash at the Glen for SPBs

Looks like another great field of Spec Boxsters. So far, 32 signed up for the sprints...24 in the enduro.

It's going to be the social event of the season. Of course the forcast says rain on Sunday. There's always rain on Sunday.

Wish that Yellow car had another chance to get a pic like that again. It will one day, just not with me in it.

I got bad news last week. The last shoulder operation I had wasn't successful, so I am now learning how to be patient while I wait for a new shoulder. This means, me driving manual car's for the next few year's is out of the question.

I hate to say it, but I am done racing SPB's for the foreseeable future. I will be back, I just don't know when and in what.

If anyone know's someone who is looking for a fast yellow SPB, send them my way.

So sad. You and that yellow car were a force to be reckoned with.

It is. I have been in a funk all week since I heard the news. I am bummed to be stepping aside for things I didn't choose.

These days, I tell myself I am happy and lucky to be alive.

Me and the yellow car always tried hard to be up front. Most times it worked, occasionally it didn't. I have lots of good memories in 128.

Really sorry to hear that Matt. I was hoping to see you and Shannon again this year.

If your up there for the Metro DE event beforehand I will be doing some coaching and will try to find you. We will still drop into the local race's and you might see us in Sebring again next year for some DE.

You would think so. But remember in 2017 (when this photo was taken), PCA declined to do a split start in Sprint #1...and Todd Lamb went to every SPB before the start and urged us all to form up separately behind the field so we would, essentially, have our own start (at the bridge)? Every one of the SPB drivers complied, with the sole exception of Bill Rudtner, who either didn't get the memo or chose to ignore it. PCA was extremely pissed, but the second sprint race, later that afternoon (the points race), DID have a split start. And, not coincidentally, Todd Lamb (black car with red stripes) was Black Flagged for "jumping the start." Todd quit racing with PCA not long afterward.

It would be great if we had a policy for split starts, ie: over X amount of SPB's = split start. If I wanted to race 911's I'd buy a 911.

Thanks for all the inquires on the car. Kinda amazing really how many people reached out and hadn’t yet had a chance to post a for sale ad.

128 is sold. The car left about an hour ago. I expect we will all see it soon on track, hopefully doing what it does best.

That's a serious bummer Matt. On the upside there are a bunch of PDK cars to race!

The only way SPB gets a split start is if the SP1-3 guys have 18 or more cars and we are grouped with them.

PCA for some reason hates the split start. When they accepted the 944 cup series the split start was part of the deal.

I recall racing with NASA were there would be as many as 3 split starts in a single race group! Not sure why PCA is so resistant. Split starts are common.

As of now there are 61 cars in SP1-B. Anybody know what the track load is?
