Default JRZ shock change in SPB

I was just told that Bilstein may not make any more PSS9 for the SPB application and that JRZ may make them instead. Anyone else know anything about that and if PCA/POC would go along with it?

I heard rumors at Sebring that another shock is being considered by PCA, but not from JRZ. Some small company out of Atlanta, cannot remember the name.

I’ve heard that JRZ, MCS, and Ohlins are all under consideration. It would be nice to get an alternative / replacement shock that matches the PSS9 performance characteristics and fit so we’re still a spec class.

Something needs to be done soon, there are people trying to build SPBs, but can't due to the lack of PSS9s.

Interesting news regarding a new potential shock manufacturer for SPB. I've been looking for new or used PSS9's for months and was recently told to check with FVD Brombacher www.fvd.net in Pompano Beach, Fl. I called them this morning and they informed me the PSS9's part # 48-181440 are available directly from Bilstein in Germany, they took my order and stated it would take approximately 15 days to receive. Not cheap at $2995 retail but tired of looking at my stalled SPB project. With my luck they will announce a new shock supplier with superior performance for less $$$. If and when my PSS9's arrive I'lll post on this forum.

Ohlins would be a great alternate in my mind.

Ohlins Road and Track would be a very similar cost, but add rebound adjust to the adjuster. PSS9’s only adjust compression.

TTX’s would be overkill for SPB’s

Nothing cheaper than the shocks already on my car that aren't bent and tested fine

Unless they plan to give em to me

Very true. Although mine are old enough now that they probably need replacement in the next year or so.

Friend of mine in AL told me today that he was going to start stripping a 986 for SPB, he was not please when I told him of the PSS9 problem.

PCA is looking for a new supplier, one that actually sells shocks. :-)

It's important to note that the PSS9s will still be legal, and we are trying to be sure the new shock doesn't make PSS9s completely uncompetitive.

Expect an announcement soon.

Well then don't select a better shock
