Default 2018 PCA Schedule is Out

Not happy. PCA seems to have made regional racing a national commitment now.

http://pcaclubracing.org/schedule/

Yes it's tentative, they said that last year and made no changes to what was put out initially. West Coast Series went from 10 races to 4 with no Laguna, no Buttonwillow and no Sears.

I guess POC and SCCA will get all of us who want to have race weekends where we dont have to fly in after work on Thursday night.

I can't even think straight after looking at the 2018 PCA schedule. The west coast series trip we had put in a tremendous amount of planning is for sure cancelled. The limited tracks this year are few and far apart. And by limited... 3 out of the 4 races in Cali is at Thunderhill. I'm sad as BRracing really seemed like a swell group of guys to run with.

What a disappointment - need to figure out my race schedule for 2018 OR what series I'm going to run in so I can get some good racing in. Ugh. Maybe another year of the east coast series.. hit up Barber (which is cool) and keep the car up there and give the yankee SPB'ers hell.

Come join us and race with the Porsche Owners Club, the NorCal guys race with us. We race Willows Springs, Buttonwillow, Auto Club Speedway, Laguna Seca, Spring Mountain Raceway ( really fun track ), & Chuckwalla Raceway. We have race fields anywhere from 14-19 spec boxsters on any given race weekend.

Come on back Chris, we had fun this year. I'm thinking about the 6 hr at High Plains. Long tow but it might be fun.

Looks like Pittsburgh is listed as both a 944 cup and Vintage race again but it's not on the main schedule so maybe it needs a little more work?

Don't bail out yet, Chris! Give it a little more time -- the schedule is merely "tentative". I personally expect that Laguna Seca (non-Rennsport), Sonoma, and Buttonwillow are all being worked on and simply need time to get firmed up and scheduled. In fact, in 2017 both Laguna Seca and Sonoma were weekends hosted by another org (NASA or SCCA?) so until they secured their dates and coordinated with PCA there was nothing on the calendar.

I think some of the PCA Regions lost money on some of their races last year so they need to decide whether they want to take the financial risk of putting them in the schedule again. I think we'll see most (if not all) of these West Coast events in the schedule over the coming months.

The 2018 PCA schedule is definitely ‘tentative’. Final dates being confirmed. Full West Coast series planned, including Thunderhill (x2), Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca and Sears Pt.

Keep calm and race on.

Default Club Race at Mid-Ohio

Look for a Club Race date for Mid-Ohio to be posted soon, MORPCA is awaiting date confirmation from the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.

Possibly a sore subject but do you know if they are having the DE in conjunction with the race as in the past?

Default Any rooms at VIR DE nov. 17--19 PCA?

I know it's a longshot but if anybody has an extra hotel room AT the track or is cancelling I'd sure like to assume it. Shoot me a PM.

I'm doing a bucket list track "Arrive and Drive."

See you there, Mark
