Default OT: For Moto Racing Fans - Sad News - Nicky Hayden

Guessing some of you on here may be moto racing fans, so thought I'd pass along some sad news in case you hadn't heard. Former MotoGP champ and all around good guy Nicky Hayden is battling for his life in an Italian hospital after being hit by a car during a bicycle ride. I'm not much of a religious man but I'm praying for him at the moment.

That is terrible news. Serious head and chest injuries. Not good.

Crazy, bicycle riding on the street is dangerous.
Bob Wollek comes to mind as well.

RIP

I visited the site of Brilliant Bob's accident just outside Sebring this March; 16 years to the day after it happened

Nicky's still alive. Hoping with all my heart that he pulls through.

Yup, I'll never forget the first time I saw him ride was sitting on the hill at Laguna about 20 years ago and watching him back the GSXR into turn 2 like a wild man. His style was so unique at the time and I was an immediate fan. Still watch The Doctor, the Tornado and the Kentucky Kid at least once a year to reminisce.

Just goes to show how much more dangerous public roads can be vs. the track.

Yes, absolute terrible news...As a 40+ year long motorcycle rider and big time collector, I have known Nicky since he was 3 years old. I was there when he won MotoGP...
(MotoGP is just not the same right now without any top American riders.)

Seems like yesterday I watched Nicky and Tommy racing GP125s when they were barely tall enough to get a foot down. Irony was being at VIR last weekend to see Roger Lee win Race 1. Heart goes out to the family, and wishing Nicky a quick and full recovery.

Hang in there Nicky!! I had the fortune to meet his family at Laguna Seca when MotoGP raced there. Such a talent.

Always been a big fan of Nicky's. One of my favorite pictures of his is from when he won at Laguna in 2005 and then back it up in 2006!

One of my racing heroes. I'm pulling for him to come through. Great picture of his glory days when he showed the world how good he could be!
