Default New 89 944 Turbo Owner

Hey everyone. Just bought a 89 turbo and will be a regular to the 944/951 forum. I just purchased the car and needed some advice. I get the car this Friday and I am very excited. My family and I have owned a total of 8 Porsches all 911s. This will be our first 944 to the family. The car I am buying had a major service done to it in 2012 (about 9k mikes ago). All belts, pulleys, tentioner, rollers etc were replaced. The car has 52k mikes on it. I know this question has probably been asked before. Mileage wise the service is still fairly new but age wise it's been five years. The car is in excellent condition. Any thoughts that I may need to do this service again soon? Just looking for an owner's opinion. Thanks guys. Glad to be a part of this group!

P.S. I'll post some pics after I get it this Friday.

It's been five years so change just the belts. The foe seals, pulleys and water pump should be good with only 9k miles on them though you should inspect them wyit. Sounds like a nice car, post pics up when you can and welcome to the dark side.

Probably also worthwhile to flush the brake fluid and change the oil. People rarely do it, but even changing the power steering fluid (use ATF) is a good idea.

Thanks guys. The Porsche dealership I bought it from did change out front rotors, pad, sensors, brake fluid and oil change. They just noted the major service (2012) and what had been done to it.

Welcome aboard.

+1 on belts and pics. If the fuel lines are original you'll want to consider replacing those as well. I'm sure yours look good given the low miles but still the age factor of 28 year old rubber. Plenty of write-ups and documentation around for DIY.

What are your intentions with the car? Collector, weekend driver, daily?
Be sure and check out the '944 Turbo and Turbo-S Forum' too.

Welcome, While I have owned several 944 I too finally got the 89 951 that I always wanted recently.
Great wealth of info here, especially with those little electrical gremlins. My belts were 1k and 6 years so did belts, rollers and all fluids, even water pump but probably not mandatory. There is alot of "while your in there" items on these cars also.

Will do! I put very little miles on my side cars. Weekend driver at best. The car is in pretty good shape but I plan to go through it again and update it even further. I want it to be a perfect stock example.

Thanks for the advice. I think that's what I will do once I get the car into my local dealer here in Texas.
