Default Looking to purchase a 928 in Vancouver Canada

I'm looking to buy a new Porsche. I'm considering a 928 (or a 996) in good condition. I will be daily driving it so not looking for a project car.

I would prefer a 928 S4 manual or auto. If anyone knows of a good car near Vancouver BC please let me know. I would also consider a earlier 928 if it is in really good condition.

thanks.

Thanks I'll watch that thread. I think I will have to go across the border to Washington to find a car. not many cars here in B.C.

how much should I expect to pay for a good condition 78-85?

I've seen early 928s listed from 2000 to around 12000 USD on craigslist. I don't mind paying more for a nice car vs picking up a beater and spending a ton of time restoring it.

Hello Tim,

Did you use to visit the 924board.org many years ago? And live in Richmond?

What years of 928s are you interested in, and what is your budget that you are looking to spend?

Hey Tim, I'd take advantage of Collin's (Lizard928) experience. You are lucky to have him in your area. Collin, I hear you coming this way...

Yes that is correct. I have met you before from the 924 board.

I am looking to spend a max of 30k CDN (I should have put a price range here). I crashed my 944 last year after almost 10 years of driving it so I'm looking for another Porsche and something nicer than my 944 (also considering a 996). After doing some research I would prefer the early 928s with 5 speed transmission (78-85).

thanks Jim that car looks really clean. I will have to see when I can come down to take a look at it. I also have to do some research on the process of bringing a U.S car to Canada.

** looks like I'm too late and it's sold. looked like a great car.

importing is simple. The hard part is the exchange, 6% duty then 13% hst. See https://www.riv.ca/ImportingAVehicle.aspx

A car that is say 10k usd. Will be close to 17k cdn once your all done and registered. Ouch.

The only car currently for sale in Canada that I would consider is John's silver S4. Listed on autotrader.ca

Good luck.

And Colin, May 7th there is a fun run to Niagara if you are still around. I'm sure we could find a shark with an open passenger seat.

Tim,

There is an 80 manual for sale on CL right now.
The problem is that most of the early cars are not in nice shape locally.

With your current budget there are a few really nice S4 autos that you could look at.

I just saw that. In the pic, it looks like someone has spray painted it flat black (or maybe it's just the pic) and someone has stuck a Ferrari sticker on the side haha. If the body is solid and it runs and shifts fine and interior isn't missing might be worth 2k maybe?

If I get a project 928 I would at least want the paint and interior to be decent.

If I spend 30k or close to 30k I would want a manual car. If I can't find a nice manual 928 in my price range, I will buy a 996.

I am okay with going across the border to Washington/ Oregon to find a nicer early 928 with 5 speed.
