Default The porsche 'wave'

New Porsche owner here. Do Porsche owners wave to others sortof like jeep people? If not, think we should start. Thoughts?

"sort of like" Jeep people???

Thanks, Lex, for agreeing to that one!

I like to think we have a bit more style.

In general yes. But it's considered optional to wave at Cayennes and Panameras.

I never wave at any other Jeeps when I'm driving my Wrangler. I'd be flapping my arm like a lunatic, there are so many of them around here...

I give all Porsches the wave. Return rate is higher among 911s than other variants....T

I always try to give a wave, though I don't get many cayennes or macans to wave back, even when I am in my Macan.

I waved to about half dozen Porsches this morning on the first break-in drive of my GTS.... up Highway 1, roughly 200 miles. Only one response - a white 991 GT3. I'm hoping the response ratio increases as my car looses up.

So you took the GTS after all ... cool.

I find that a LOT of PCar owners dont acknowledge such, I find that GT cars tend to respond more often than your avarage Boxster/Cayman/911 driver....

Hope you will make the 5/9 "Cars & Coffee" event?

I will generally flash high beams at any cool car I see. It has to be rare and interesting though. Too many 1990 and onwards Porsches around in my hood.

There a guy in my town that toodles about on sunny days in a 550 (spyder?). If it's the real thing, isn't that like a 3 million dollar car?

I wave at other Porsche drivers but have rarely had a wave returned.

I wondered about this too. When I owned a Corvette (two of them over a 15 year period) I was waved at by probably 95% of the Vettes I saw, all generations.

Yeah, well 15 years ago 95% of the 911 drivers would wave back too.

Keep this analog Porsche custom alive. (Next thing Porsches will have a PDK salute mechanism if we let them.)
