Default Would you/do you regret having NO sunroof in your 991 ?

My car hasn't even been delivered to me yet, but I am partially regretting my decision to get a 991 without a sunroof.

I understand the whole 'cleaner lines look' logic....especially on a PTS car.... but I did use the sunroof quite a bit in my recently sold 993 TT.

My young daughters will probably be happy that Dad can't open the sunroof and mess up their hair Quite frankly, though, my hair actually looked better with the roof open and windows down vs just having the windows down. I think the air just all flowed better. But in my wife's SUV and my Jaguar sedan the open sunroof is situated at enough of an angle where my hair looks like Don King by the time I get out of the car

I've only ever had/wanted soft-top cars, but if I ever had a coupe a sunroof would just feel like a pale imitation of the real thing so I'd skip it. You've probably saved a bunch of weight by not having it too...

I always felt the same way about sunroofs in most coupes too, but I will say that the 993TT had a 'perfect air flow balance'. Just not sure if the 991 does or not.

Mine is a 997.2, but I'd still miss the sunroof. I've never been a fan of soft tops, I'd prefer a hard top like the Benz SLK series or Ferrari California. Regardless, you have an awesome car on the way. You said your car is PTS? What color? Look forward to seeing pics of it....T

I don't regret not getting one. Have one in my other car and hardly ever open it. It does "open up" the cabin with light and the such, but other than that, just too noisy when open. Add to that the potential for rattles and leaks into the cabin (which has happened to me in various cars), plus cost made it a no for me and I do not regret it.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

The sunroof is pretty much last on my list of critical options.

I've heard more complaints about sunroofs than positives about them. Not to mention, you'll have more interior headroom!

It is Viper Green. I don't have the car yet but here is a link to some pics to view in the meantime. It should be delivered to me on Friday.

If I didn't drive over 65 with both windows down, I wouldn't miss it at all. I never had a rattle in 3 years, and have plenty of headroom.

Hey, thanks for bringing up this topic. My 997.2 will be out of warranty in 6 months and I have never, not once, used the sun roof. I suppose I should check to see if actually works and have it fixed if it doesn't.

I wouldn't have ordered the car if I couldn't get one. With a huge preference for glass, in spite of the weight. I use mine every chance I get.

I specifically searched for a non-sunroof coupe when searching for my turbo. Hard to find, but there are actually people in the 996 community who have removed them and welded new panels into the roof to be rid of them. Crazy, I know. I have no use for a sunroof. Love convertibles and own two right now, but my wife's grand Cherokee has a sunroof that I never open and just don't like.

I like my glass one on my GTS because of the light it lets in. It wouldn't kill me if I didn't have one, but think I prefer having the option to open it up when I want to.

that is one option my 991 doesn't have and I debated how important it is to me. Living in TX they are nice...not too often. Forget it in the summer months, too hot, don't like the noise at speed, looks cleaner without...I don't think it will be missed. I have another vehicle with a roof and really don't open it much.
