Default Where would you sell?

Hey folks,

Looking for advice if you wanted to sell your Porsche in Canada. Auction site like BAT/C&B? Autotrader? Rennlist Marketplace? Facebook Marketplace?

i have done Autotrader successfully a few years back but it took some of my energy. Thinking about selling my 997.2 Turbo manual. Curious to hear your thoughts.

I sold my 997.2 turbo manual on BAT.

Even if you don't get an auction sale, you will afterwards.

Posting around here will be hopeless I think. You will maximize to US.

I've sold two Porsches to Rennlist members over the years...also had success with Autotrader, despite the low-ballers and scammers. Forget about FB marketplace as it's a cesspool. An exceptional 997.2 manual Turbo could do well on BaT, but presentation will need to be top drawer to get top dollar, and there's a very real reluctance on the part of many potential U.S. buyers to bid on a Canadian car. The local BaT partner works out of my shop and has had mixed success selling cars into the U.S. since tariffs muddied the cross-border waters. Even If you can get a reserve you can live with, an auction can go off the rails in a hurry if the car has anything questionable in its past or the peanut gallery gets itself worked up.

I'd do BAT or PCarMarket. I've sold a number of vehicles on BAT and as noted above you need to really have your ducks aligned and ready to answer the peanut gallery.

Cars and Bids has a very good sell through rate but lower average comparing to BAT.

You could try Porsche Vaughan and JCars. Haven't sold an older car to either. But I'm sure they would both be interested, just a matter of whether you like what they offer you.

I'm half thinking to sell my 1997 C2S, so interested in how this discussion goes.

I sold my previous Porsches to Jarod at JCars in London. Had a really great experience and recommend his services to everyone.

I've sold 2 cars to Jarod as well. He is fair. If you want to swing for the fences try BAT but generally the Canadian cars don't do as well because Americans are scared to have to try and bring it back across. ...That being said what colour is your 997.2 Turbo?

Yes, this is a good suggestion as they seem to acquire really good Porsche examples and very active on socials...

Thanks all for the feedback, it seems auction might be the way to go. I understand Canadian cars might not get top dollars vs US cars, especially seeing recent sale numbers on BAT/C&B. I’ll reach out to them to understand more how it works and all. I'm curious about JCars as well, will check them out.

Note: for those asking in this thread and DMs, basalt black metallic, sport seats, PDLS, sports chrono, dynamic engine mounts, 84k km, Europipe exhaust is the only mod but I have the original exhaust. I’m second owner, have had it for 3 yrs (it had 74k km when I got it), bought CPO from Porsche. They had changed the clutch, front suspension, engine refresh, and new flywheel. I have 100% of the documentation in PDF, although its in french.

Thoughts on the number I should be asking?

No coolant pipes to address here.
Selling a car to US is very simple.
