Default Missing cowl corner trim (Part #95851161300) - Common issue?

Hi everyone,

As I continue my hunt for the 958.1 gts, I've noticed few cars are missing the small corner trim pieces at the base of the windshield. (Part # 95851161300) For context, these are the rubber/plastic pieces located at the far left and right ends of the main cowl weatherstripping, right near the hood hinges.

Should I view this missing piece as just a cheap DIY fix that I shouldn't worry about, or as a warning sign of a "hack job" maintenance history where the car was serviced by people who didn't care?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

I bought a new one to replace my missing passenger side one about 2 years ago. I just found the missing one in the engine. I like having all the trim pieces in tact.
I seem to remember there is a right and a left part number.

Yes, there are two numbers. Do you think it is easy to lose? Thanks

Yes they fall off all the time when I am in there. That being said a small amount of silicone seal on the backside would prob hold in place better. Assume these things are for either water flow or air flow, and being a German car probably have an actual function... in theory.
