Help with Mr12Volt install
Im currently installing a Mr12Volt CarPlay unit in my 2015 Cayman GTS (PCM 3.1, option P26/CDR Plus). When I opened the PCM head unit, I discovered it wasn't stockthere was already a third-party daughterboard installed (see photos). Ive removed that old board and replaced it with Mr12Volt.
There was this strange looking ribbon cable (the one Im holding in the picture below) and also the tiny white connector with white cable that is soldered on the motherboard of PCM. I watched numerous videos on installing mr12volt but haven't seen this kind of setup anywhere. I suppose they are aftermarket and were added to work with the board that was installed previously. I insulated them and left unplugged.
After I installed Mr12Volt board, put in all the ribbon cables in appropriate slots and assembled the unit and started putting the PCM back into its place, stumbled upon another problem. There are four cable looms coming out of the cavity where PCM is located. I connected 3 of them (Yellow HSD connector, Quadlock and Fakra antenna connector) but I have no idea what to do with fourth. I think previous owner modified the cables to work with the daughterboard, but since I replaced it with mr12Volt, this connectors have nowhere to go now. If you look closely where I'm holding the loom, one of the cables is also cut.
So currently the screen of my PCM is off, but I have sound. When I put keys in ignition, radio starts up. My phone is also connected via AUX bluetooth. PCM restarts if I push source and info button, but the screen doesn't wake up.
Ive double and triple-checked the ribbon seating, but Im stuck. Has anyone encountered a PCM motherboard with soldered-on "extra" wires, or can you identify this fourth loom? Could the previously cut/modified wires be preventing the screen from getting power?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
