Have a .2 Turbo with a massive coolant leak. Indy that I took it to thinks its coming from somewhere in the rear of the engine but not sure what exactly is leaking and is quoting 17hrs labor to fix it. He wants to pretty much pull the motor and replace every coolant line. I do NOT think this is the right approach. Getting another opinion means towing it from shop to shop.
Is there a common failure point that my guy is just not aware of?
Coolant is gushing out almost as quickly as you fill it.
If the coolant is leaking immediately, you should be able to see where its coming from.
If you add water or coolant to the expansion tank, watch where it goes. Not uncommon for either the tank to have issues or the hose connection on the bottom of the expansion connection.
vent line is another, but I dont think it leaks as quickly.
I had a similar leak in October last yr on my 958.2 turbo S. The indy was unable to figure where the leak was coming from until he removed the intake. The bleeder hose was broken.
Thanks everyone. Spoke to him today. Will be removing intake to see whats broken under. He wanted to drop transmission to replace every single plastic line which I declined to do.
