Default WHEELCHAIR USER needs help with 911 HAND CONTROLS

Hello.......I am PAUL From Reno/Lake Tahoe!

WHEELCHAIR USER/HAND CONTROL USER

This is my first post. I am reaching out to members here as I am needing some help with hand controls in a 911. I am trying to find Porsche owners that use hand controls as I am trying to figure out what will work for me as far as type of hand control and permanent installation. I also have basic questions about transferring into the vehicle and protecting the door sill from scratches and other questions.

BUT...my main need is to network with persons that use handcontrols and what brand/manufacturer they are using and the installation of fixed permanent hand controls is specifically what I need information on.

I am aware of portable handcontrols. I will pop in some Quick Stick hand controls but want and a permanent installation on right angle hand controls preferably Guidosimplex MONARCH right angle hand controls which I have been using for some 45 years. Just to make everyone aware so you don't waste your time typing......I have reached out to hand control manufacturers and installers with no luck.

I am looking to purchase a new 911 and would be a first time owner, that is why I do not yet have these answers and need help.

IF anyone on here (members....forum managers) knows anyone that is a 911 owner and wheelchair user/hand control user please reach out to them and let them know a person on here would like to talk to them and get information on hand controls and general things related to wheelchair user 911 drivers.

ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS IN ADVANCE,,,,,,

PAUL

This system works great on our 24 Hours of Lemons Mini Cooper race car.

Thanks for the reply Pete. Yeah there are lots of options and types of hand controls. I have seen that type push pull (never had them) in GT3RS along with the ring steering wheel type on dedicated race cars. I have never had push/pull. Monarch right angle in all my vehicles. Have you ever used right angle hand controls? WHY did you choose this type vs right angle and other options?

I am hoping right angle hand controls like Guidosimplex Monarch which I have been using and I am used to can be mounted under the steering column. That is what I am trying to find out and seeking out 911 owners that have them. IF you know any 911 hand control users please reach out to them on my behalf.

Thanks again,

PAUL

I think the right angle "yoke" type is what we started with however it created an opportunity to press the brake and gas at the same time which doesn't make brake pads happy. Also in certain tight corners it was hard to get on the gas with a lot of wheel cranked in. I've never driven it but switching to this one was unanimously deemed way better. Press forward to stop and pull back to boogie, the drivers are really fast with it. Never seen any Porsche with such a set up but good luck finding a solution.

Being right handed and having used my right hand on the steering wheel and my left hand to do the brake and gas my muscle memory is so trained to function with right angle hand controls it would be very difficult for me to switch now. My dominant hand naturally wants to be on the steering wheel.
