Has anyone successfully repaired this?
I don’t want to take it to the dealer, it’s out of warranty anyway.
I was thinking double sided Gorilla tape, but I’m not sure if it will stick to the underside of the carpet.
This isn't all that helpful, but I am pretty sure I've seen this addressed on other threads, and I've only been on the forums a couple of years. So maybe there is hope. What about velcro tape (and super-gluing the carpet side if need be)? Not sure if that would be flush enough, but probably.

Keeps popping out, it’s just a c.h. too small
How about taking it entirely out then reinstall? It could have shifted which is why it keeps popping out at that side. When reinstaling it tuck that side in 1st to make sure its got enough to hold then do the rest.

Thanks for your reply.
it doesn’t appear to have shifted at all, since the molded parts match up to the metal bumps opposite.
If it did, it’s just a titch.
I think the easiest solution is to somehow tape or glue it… I’m just wondering what to use.
I’ve had that problem on 2 718’s. I’ve used double sided velcro and it holds. I noticed the 911’s have a fastener there now.
Okay, thanks!
Just to be clear, do you mean 1 piece of Velcro tape, applied to the shiny side and the hooks grabbed the fuzzy carpet backing?
or did you actually apply the loop part to the carpet back too?

I had to apply the velcro to both the carpet side, and body side. It wasn't easy to line up.
If behind that area is clear, and safe to drill, I'd just drill a hole right in the middle (side to side), and about an inch lower than the edge. Then install a carpet plug (available everywhere), and problem solved. You could even put sealant around the plug end, once installed, if you want. And since apparently even 911s have one now, it'd look OE. But I'd do that, even if 911s didn't have one. I don't believe any other option is going to hold, but you could try that first. Then if it keeps coming off, go for the hole. By the way, even a new one could have the same problem, so I wouldn't waste my money on that option, but that's just me. Hope this helps.

This crossed my mind, but I was worried about what was on the other side of the metal.
I drilled into a beverage refrigerator at work once to install a lock (night guards and maintenance were stealing) and hit a Freon line… so I’m now squeamish about that.
