Default Changed the oil on my 991.2…

I’ve always changed the oil myself on all my Porsches. The most difficult/messy was my 2013 Boxster and the easiest is my current 991.2. This my first Porsche with the oil filter canister on the top of the motor. If I didn’t have to wait for all the oil to drain I could do it in 30 minutes.

While the oil is draining from the sump, crack the canister cover loose to help that drain out a bit. The whole ordeal shouldn't really take you longer than 30 minutes if you're moving purposefully.

Looks like you owned a 997? Maybe .1 is different than .2 but 997.2 is a snap. Nothing to remove to get to the filter.

This and drive the car a bit before changing it. The warmer oil will drain faster.

I was surprised how much more oil drained from letting it sit overnight. (I needed about a half quart more to fill it up than what I remembered from past changes)
