I don't think the front differential fluid has ever been changed in my 01 996 C4 and wondering what type of fluid everyone uses? Looks like SAE 74W-90 GL-5 and it takes .95 quarts?

It's 75w90 oil (I use porsche classic) and in European terms takes 1.5 litres
According to ChatGPT: Mobile 1 Synthetic Gear LS 75W-90 is the common choice so thats what I'll go with. I'm not racing that car, only a weekend driver so that should suffice! Thanks for all the replies!
To expand on Satur's comment, always open the fill hole first. One, for good venting without bubbling during draining. Second, you want to make sure you are going to be able to get the fill hole open BEFORE you drain out the fluid! It would be quite a pickle to drain the fluid out and then find you can't refill.
The rear drain plug on my differential was on incredibly tight. Really, really tight. I was very worried I would round the head of the drain bolt or break it. It required a long breaker bar and I had to be careful to make sure the socket stayed firmly engaged to the head of the bolt. It wasn't easy to do with the car only up on jack stands. Hopefully, you will not have a similar issue.
