Default Ashtray MagSafe Phone Mount and Charger

While the Rennline clock phone mount is nice I find it gets in the way of the radio and climate controls so I made this :

Nice. The alternative option I did was use a RH Drive Rennlist Mount and installed it to the left of the steering wheel. Hardwired through the dash.

thats good option also, do you have a location to get a 12 v switched source behind the dash. That was my next step to run the cable through the ashtray

You can get it through the center console switches, radio, or fuse box.

I installed this one last year. Very well engineered and works perfectly. https://www.dtw-engineering.com/shop...orsche-964-993

Looks like a good option. I could not for life of me get the clock out to install that type of mount. I used a $15 suction mount on the far left lower windshield and am happy for the moment. I like having the phone at near eye level for nav purposes. My battery lasts all day.

All the best, GT

perhaps if I shortened the base, it would work better with without getting in the way of my stick.
-simply used the pullout ashtray as the pattern

It’s your original post that gave me the idea along with the 700$ folding one. If I had access to dimensions I could recreate that folding one for a fraction of the cost.

maybe we can collaborate on designing the folding one that can be hardwired into the car?

Just received mine and there are no install instructions. How did you connect the wires for the charger?

I used this set of instructions and wired in a USB module that sits behind the dash. One of the USB leads powers my dash cam and the other is for a phone charger.
