Default SoCal 997 GT3 Track day interest list

Since we have a good amount of members interested in doing track days together I figured I would start a thread and put an interest list together.

If we plan far enough ahead or do Socal Drivers Club events then we can get transport scheduled and if you live close enough to me (Thousand Oaks) you can jump in my SUV with me and id be happy to drive us to the track.

The track host I run with and have friends who have run with and have good feedback about the host.

Speed District
Socal Drivers Club
Tamale track days
Speed SF

The tracks they usually visit
Buttonwillow Classic 13CW
Buttonwillow Track 2 (super fun if you have been, brand new and great flow)
Willow springs/ Streets of willow
Chuckwalla

Dan - I'd add SpeedSF who sometimes does Buttonwillow. Know Don who is one of the owners and have run with them many times in the Bay area and recently down here. Safe, well run and no tolerance for idiots.

Interested if we can settle on a date/organizer. Would love to throw a car on the trailer too

Or we all chip in and make a private Chuckwalla track day.

Speed SF added.

I am open to renting the track out pending we have enough drivers. Generally I think we need roughly 12 cars to make it pencil out.

See post #66, tried to make this happen in 2023, for a private mid week rental. Not enough interest in the 996/7 crowd. Seems like the easiest thing to do is for people to just sign up with a decent company/group that is hosting an event and perhaps have a dedicated run group if there are enough people.

What about buying out a run group for simplicity. Many groups used to offer this. May be a relic of the past.

Curious how many people from this form would actually show up and track their cars.

I am definitely interested! I have been enjoying my days with Speed District the most, small car counts and lots of track time. SDC is a bit tougher with most of their days being on Fridays.

For a socal 996/7 GT event at BW CW13 I'd say 10-15max people would actually commit and show up, barely a run group. Still would be super cool.

Private day at new buttonwillow is 15k before corner workers and insurance.

I can text Josh at speed district about a private run group buy out, but honestly its probably easier to just sign up for a day and just pick the lowest car count group. In February at Chuckwalla with speed district I moved down to the beginner group because it has 5 cars and I never saw another car the entire day and turned 35 laps before lunch then packed up and bounced.

I agree with that. Most of their recent events don't seem to have a problem with maxing out the counts so even having what will probably only be like 5 more people than usual it shouldn't be a problem to just coordinate a day and show up.

I was at Chuck with speed district on 1/31. Were you there on 2/1? What color is your car? I was there with my buddy, I have a white 997.1 and he has a white 997.2. I think at that event there was a silver 997.1 and maybe a black 997.2? Lots of mezger representation.

I think it would be about $5K for a run group. So 10cars @ $500ea. I think there is a broader appeal for running BW CW13.
Alternatively, registering for Sunday events, for an intermediate or advanced run group = lower crowds and weeds out some riff raff.

I’d love to think I’d go
but so busy with work travel it’s hard to make it work during week right now.

if the dates work I’d be open for a private run group.

Speed district is good.

i can pretend I’m still pretty fast 🤣
