Interesting for sure. Looks like a baby gt3 cup. I wonder if it will be a motorsport sequential and electronics or pdk with a production based ecu like the current GT4. Looks like stock doors and 5 lug wheels which is interesting as well. Along with what seems to be the 71 diameter rear tire. I'd guess the car will be heavier but more powerful than the current GT4 to fit a bit better against the current GT4 class of cars. The Cayman was always the lightest and lowest power car which made it fast but hard to race.
The word is two versions, a challenge GT4 with PDK and ABS and then a competition GT4 with a motor sports transmission. Unconfirmed, and the pricing structure will be pretty interesting.
Starting in 2027 the new GT4 car will run in the top GT4 series like SRO GT4 America/Europe, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, etc. This is exciting and long overdue as the current GT4RS Clubsport is definitely showing its age vs. the GT4 platforms from other manufacturers.
In terms of pricing I've heard its going to cost more than a 992 Cup mainly due to it having adjustable dampers.

I thought it ws going have a Turbo? I have a 992.1 Cup now, so I am out of the GT4 business......
PDK is the only logical choice for GT4 level cars. Seq’s dramatically escalate the cost of things. Plus with a Cup in the lineup they need differentiation. Turbo engine would be the better solution. Lower cost and better suited for BOP classing. Would be surprising to see them stick with the 4.0, but guess it’s possible. With the 4RS around $270k and the 992.2 Cup around $380k, this car will probably slot in around $320-$330k would be my guess.
Looking at the photos, I am a bit confused as to what racing this car is aim at. It does not appear to be a GT4 class car because it has standard side windows and doors whereas in GT4 class racing you are required to have fixed polycarbonate windows. It also retains the standard gas filler flap on the front right fender rather than having a fast fill flap in the centre of the hood connected to a racing fuel cell. Also, it does not appear to have an air jack system. So at a guess, this could be a car for a new single make racing series just like the new M2 Racing which retains side windows, etc.

The Audi R8 GT4 has always had standard doors with windows, so fixed poly isn't mandatory. A standard gas filler/tank could be another way to keep build costs in check and lower the long term operating costs. There needs to be clear differentiation between the GT4 and Cup just from a business perspective. I would bet it will have airjacks and a fuel cell. They probably just left some stuff off with the initial test mules. I'm pretty sure the car will be for GT4 and the single make series just as the current GT4RS is.
In the autoevolution vdieo you can see the dash very clearly and it does show 9k rpm on the cluster and the word Challenge. Might get lucky and get a NA 4L but detuned. But I do think a turbo powerplant is the smarter move for the racing vehicle. Not sure if that steering wheel is stand-in. I didn't think you were allowed active dampers in most racing series.
With that production steering wheel and dash cluster (its not a Cosworth PI system), I am still thinking this is possibly a car for a single make racing series...or maybe even just a more focused track car for track junkies.
