Default 2002 996 Bonnet locked???

The car has a deader than dead battery and after much searching, reading and watching videos. I have hooked up both a jump box and then tried a good battery to the pull out fuse in the panel and it does nothing no click or sound of any kind the release button does nothing. I pulled the inner wheel well liner and pulled on the emergency cable and no movement on the cable at all. I first thought I might not be pulling out hard enough so I hooked up a strap and pulled and gave it a few hard yanks while my son removed the tension by pushing down on the hood and no movement.
I have removed all of the fasteners from the bumper cover and can get my hand to the latch location but nothing moves.
Is it possible it is locked? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Failure of the jump method using the fuse box is usually because either you have poor ground or not enough current. That is why recommend NOT using a mobile jump box; but instead, use the new fully charged battery. (Usually the one you intend to swap out.)

Now, the emergency release cable is more successful in most cases, but because the factory thought is was wise to route the cable around the corner of the car behind the fender well liner, it makes it super hard to get the right leverage without thinking you're going to break something. I would first remove the passenger side marker light and reroute the cable through that opening. That will give you a more straight line pull with less potential snags or resistance.

Watch this video I did for folks wanting to see the internals of hood lock assembly. Hope it helps!

Thank you. I watched this yesterday but was not near the car and was trying to find it again this morning. It looks like with the cover on the latch it would be very hard to use a pick or screwdriver to open it. I will try tomorrow to reroute the emergency cable to allow a straighter pull. Thanks again for the video!

I would strongly recommend NOT picking or prying the lock mechanism with anything. Just stay the course with the emergency release cable. Or, try the fuse box method, but this time find a different ground point on the car. Also, make double sure the car battery you use has a full charge. All that being said, don't let yourself get so frustrated that you go medieval on the hood.

Haha thanks I had to strongly battle the medieval thought this morning. Hopefully tomorrow will go better.
