2018 vs 2019 4S reliability
Hello. My 2014 4S with 105K is beginning to grenade. Car has been mostly awesome but is now worth maybe $10K.
Target is a 971 Gen,low mileage CPOd 4S.
My service advisor, who has been great thru 3 Pcars, says shoot for at least a 2019.....that 17-18 have been problematic. I have a budget so it will be a .1
What's wrong with 17-18 from y'all's perspective?

My 18 is fine. I'm never a fan of the first run of a new chassis so I personally wouldn't buy a 2017. Someone on here was claiming there were catastrophic failures with the 2.9 that were fixed in 2019 but I couldn't find much anecdotal evidence. I suppose I would listen to an SA unless he's working with sales lol. My SA did not know my 4s is AWD.... Either way, CPO protects you so I wouldn't sweat it. Find a CPO that you like and go for it.

I would not own a 2018 EA839 2.9TTV6 engine. 2017 and 2018 were years cam roller follower failures are widely reported. A few on rennlist and a number on audiworld. 2019 and later appear clear of this problem.

Yes you were the one who I think mentioned it before. I'm not sure I would call it widespread if we're being fair, plus OP is buying CPO.

I've owned a 2017 4S since new (second 971 delivered by my dealer, so very early production) and have had zero issues with it. While the engine is based on the same block as the Audi 2.9l twin turbo, Porsche made some changes to it for use in the Panamera. The problems in one do not necessarily apply to the other.
