Hello, I have been lurking around for some time and nearly pulled the trigger on a Cayman a few times in the past. Now I am getting serious and have made the decision to actually buy a 911.

I am trying to determine a good budget and since 911's range so dramatically in options, models and specs, its difficult to compare one to the next. Overall I am looking for something that I can daily during the summer in Calgary and would be fun and reliable. Also needing to consider maintenance is all dependent on previous owners.

I think I am looking at either a 997.2 or 991.1, but if someone can sway me one way or the other, I am open to suggestions. Not totally set yet, but I am also trying to determine a reasonable budget, thinking $65,00 to $100,000 should get something decent, but I know a 991 might push closer to $125,000 if its a C4S or higher trim level.

Advice, help, suggestions welcome. I am excited to see what I can find and get to know those in the community.

Are you trying to determine how much an ideal car will cost you OR how much you can spend on this car?

I'd maybe first approach it from the POV of how much money can you spend on this car? Then see what you get for the money. Through that research you will also do some thinking on what specs are important to you and will see the associated price tags.

…you need to buy what you like.
a 997 looks different than a 991. Inside and out.

and unless you are buying CPO from a Porsche dealer - pay for a pre purchase inspection.

what I am trying to ask is the pricing I put forward, is that reasonable for a 997.2 or a 991.1? I know what kind of spec I’d like to have but know I’ll struggle to find everything and am ok with that.

$80-$105k should get you a nice 997.2.

Last I checked nice ones were close to $100k. Nice meaning a C4S/GTS, popular options, manual.

Share your findings, I'm always curious. I have a 997.2 C4S, highly optioned, 40,000km.

awesome. That really helps as it’s a tricky market with prices all over the place.

I'm also trying to find something in the west (Victoria to Winnipeg) and pricing is inconsistent and slightly more than the GTA.

Seems like it will be a process, but I’m excited and will see what I can find.
