I have a 981 Spyder with a black roof. I had kind of wanted the red but you know 981 Spyder's don't come a dime a dozen. I do know that this is the car for me, no doubt about that, so I'm set on having it my way and I'd like a red roof.

I would like to know how this color does over time in terms of wear and maintenance compared to black. I'd love to hear from anyone who's lived with one for a while.

I'm wondering if anyone has gone through a replacement before. If so, a few questions:

- any troubles with the fit?

- anyone DIY the install?

- cost of having the dealer install it?

Lastly, just taking a stab in the dark here but if anyone has a red roof and wants to go black, I'd consider a swap.

I can't speak from first-hand experience but you should be able to get a quote from your dealer. First, you will need a vin number for a car with a red roof to even look up the part you need to order. Then, I would probably get the price of a roof from Suncoast and ask a local indi shop to quote the job. All in, I'm guessing $4-$8k.
