992 Recall Notice - Windshields
#2
Yes! Dealer told me they have yet to have a single car that needed to be addressed when they checked mine. One thing worth noting is if it does freakishly need to have the windscreen replaced they won’t be allowed to let you take the car while they are waiting for the replacement so be sure to hedge your bets and take it when you have no immoderate need/desire to use the car.

Several of us have had the recall done. Mine was checked in July with no issues.
Here’s the thread that talks about it.

We haven't received this notice yet, however last summer the black poxy around the windshield began to ooze free as if it had melted. Not real bad and hardly noticeable but we had the dealer check it out during an oil change. Sure enough it was warranted and they replaced the front wind screen altogether - something we were not expecting. Part came from Germany, waited about a week.

For people needing or getting replacements, is there ample supply of front and rear glass available?
What makes me a little concerned about this is what happens if Porsche pulls on your windshield and rear glass and says its OK, and then a few months later it stress cracks from them messing with it.

This recall is not about the automatically melting windshield sealant. My windshield was replaced under warranty about a month or two before this recall came out. Random cracks with no connection to each other. The dealer did not hold the car and while I was warned that there could be a long wait for a new windshield, it was taken care of within 48 hours.
FWIW a recall is good for the life of the vehicle. So cracked windshield on a LWG 992 with no impact damage and you'll get a new windshield courtesy Porsche. The "no impact damage" qualifier is important.

Got the second letter today as well. Really irritating to say the least. I love the way they stress it’s a ‘no cost’ ‘free service’. To reiterate previous threads, I have zero issues and the last thing I want is to deal with a broken windshield or worse rear glass from the test.
