A few weeks ago I stumbled across a thread for a single-DIN head unit that the S2000 forum seemed to like. I purchased one for my 1985.2 944 and installed it this past weekend.
It easily fits the existing radio space and sounds very good. It's nice to have Carplay (wired or wireless) in the 944.

The unit is a Power Acoustik CP-71W (https://poweracoustik.com/product/cp-71w/). There are probably other suitable unit but I thought I'd give this a try for the price.
Power Acoustik is a Walmart house brand. I paid $145 in store (it's $140 online).

• Low cost.
• Android Auto is also included with an update to the software.
• Front AND rear cameras are supported.
• GPS is supported (antenna included).
• Streaming music through BT supported.
• Phone calling supported with integrated mic.
• Siri supported.
• Remote control is included.
• Configured for steering wheel control if so equipped adapter needed).
• Wired and wireless Carplay/AA connectivity is supported.
• CONS
• Seems to run hot - I'll be monitoring the temps.
• Can be a bit laggy when connected wirelessly, but not a deal killer for the price.
• Unit depth is shallow and may need added support in your installation.

Looks a great little unit. I added a single din apple carplay unit to mine a couple of years back.
They are a great addition to these and other old classics
