After rebuilding the engine I had issues with the check engine light not going out and low oil pressure.
At that time I had a few oil leaks one of which was coming from the back of the engine and couldn't tell if it was dripping down or originating elsewhere.
So I pulled the engine back down, put in a high volume pump, resealed everything and put it back in.
Good news the oil pressure issue is fixed; bad news is it looks like the oil leak is in the same place as it was dripping before.
I'm reasonably confident I resealed everything correctly.
I've isolated to where the leak is coming from. It looks like its dripping directly from the bottom of the case.
I'm told that sometime the two halves of the engine case can warp.
QUESTION: Is it possible to fix the leak without pulling it out?
I cannot confirm but it seems when the engine is running it does not leak. It only leaks when is the engine off?
Any chance at all you overfilled it or dripped some oil when adding it to the filler?
I would drive the car 300 miles and see if you still have an issue.
i just bought a. 4 Targa that had drippage when it arrived to me. None now that I have driven it every few days.
If you still have the problem maybe do a dye treatment and take it to a shop for their opinion of the source.
