Default 4s, GTS, Turbo - Most engaging?

Looking at picking up a used Taycan for a daily and test drove a few. I first drove a 2021 4s but did not have much options and felt the car was sluggish, not super engaging and not impressed. I then drove a 2022 GTS right after and LOVED it. I drove a 2020 Turbo and Turbo S as well and enjoyed both but still was thinking about the GTS. I really loved how sporty it felt and preferred the alcantara steering wheel and seats vs full leather interior.

My question is, I don't really care about the power so much, but more the sporty ride and steering feel, etc. Would there be a version of the 4s with certain options that I should test out that would give me the same sporty feel as the GTS or is the GTS the one I need to buy because the way the suspension is tuned and steering feel is unique to just the GTS?

Thanks

I own a 4S and would recommend GTS. It's actually the first Porsche GTS product I've driven that seems worth it. Others have really felt the same as S/4S IME. The GTS suspension and steering feel even better than the 4S.

Is there really different suspension and steering tuning on a GTS?
I thought it's just a power derated turbo, maybe the Race-Tex seat fabric holding you in contribute to the feel.

I believe there is a suspension and steering calibration difference for the GTS over all the other models. I would try to find a turbo/turbo S with the performance package and try that. If you still prefer the GtS get that.

You answered your question.

I owned a 4S, extended borrow a Turbo, and own a GTS. GTS is the sweet spot. Except, IMHO the GTS is lot firmer ride than the 4S.

If you can tolerate the "Porch" pronunciation:

The Sweet Spot of the Taycan Range? (Porsche Taycan GTS ...

I have a Taycan Turbo S and have spent about 1,000 miles in a Taycan GTS. The GTS handling is overall a bit tighter and more precise. The Turbo S wallows a bit at high speed on the twisties. I prefer the GTS handling over the Turbo S.

Have a turbo ct. Will get a GTS once lease is up. It’s the sweet spot indeed.

As others have noted, the GTS is definitely a bit firmer and sharper (certainly firmer than our previous 2020 Turbo, and my 2021 4S CT rental). The ride is still very good, but if you're looking for the most agile and aggressive Taycan setup, it's definitely the GTS.

Seriously though, none of them are engaging. They’re really nice appliances, very well made, handle great, and are somewhere on the spectrum of fast to stupid fast depending on trim. If you want engaging, buy literally anything that isn’t EV. If you want the most relaxing and quality driving experience in ****ty city traffic, then get a Taycan. I drove the different trims, didn’t need extra melt my face off power for a commuter, so got a 4S which was a nice compromise IMHO. If I want engaging I grab the keys to the RS3 or 911.

For a four door ev it's very engaging on some nice twisty roads. Pretty sterile day to day but pretty much every Porsche is. EVs still can't be really compared for driver engagement to old school na manual cars. They have come along way and can still be a lot of fun though under the right circumstances.

For day to day driving it's hard to go away from the ev instant torque unless you have a nice large displacement V8.

I drove a 4s today with more options like performance package and it felt a lot better. GTS definitely firmer. Thanks everyone for all the feedback!

Yeah, I think depending on how the 4S is optioned makes a world of difference. I just picked up my new 2024 CT 4S with Performance Package/PDCC, Premium, Tech, and 21” (and some other options) and it handles great.

Taycan 4S can be re programmed to adopt GTS suspension dampening characteristic and GTS sound as well. Confirmed.

Wish someone offered this up for sale. Those would both be great mods.
