'25 GTS 4.0 - take or pass?

I'd expressed some casual interest in a '25 718 GTS 4.0 to a dealer several states away (where we used to live & from whom we had previously bought several new cars) and got a call today that I could have an immediate allocation for delivery before the end of the year. Are these slots hard to come by? I have never had a build allocation offered and see this model - with low miles - being sold today as CPO for at or above sticker. Thinking seriously about taking it and building exactly what I want. Also was offered a base '25 992.2, but I am not convinced I want one of those - taking a wait and see for now.
My last DD was a 991.2 C2S, and we already have a '24 Boxster base build and at the German port awaiting shipping (for over one month now) from a more local dealer that should be here in a month or two. I loved the 991.2 and wondering how the GTS 4.0 will stack up in driving experience? Have driven 718s on road and track, but not those with this engine.

I think the 4.0 NA engine is amazing. I'm currently waiting on a Boxster GTS 4.0 but before this car i had a 718 GT4 (was a lemon which is why i no longer have it) and the engine was amazing. It's a very different experience compared to the turbo engines. If you are a low torque kinda guy then maybe sticking with the 911 might be better for you. But if you like holding the throttle down and chasing those higher RPMS, then i cant think of a better car to do that in than these.

I test drove a 991.2 GTS recently and I was like yeah NAH dog not for me within 5 minutes, but I am an NA type.
if you liked the 991.2 then you might not be a NA guy. the 4.0 is for NA lovers who enjoy the immediate crisp throttle response, unmuffled piercing sound and high rpm pull that only NA offers. If those things don't matter much to you then I wouldn't add a 4.0 given you have a boxster coming already.

Just be sure you are comfortable with the "ticking" sound in the 4.0 engine.
My BIL couldn't stand the ticking sound after owning his BGTS 4.0 for about 6 months and eventually sold it.

My last Porsche was a 991.2 C4s manual and now I have a Boxster 25 manual. I prefer my Boxster. It feels more agile and is much more enjoyable on backroads. If you want a manual, the 992.2 doesn't even offer one for MY 2025. Unfortunately for MY 2025, you will end up paying 4500 more for the same car as MY 2024.
The 4 liter has noisy fuel injectors (they sound like the rattling of a rainstick), but they are easily drowned out by a decent aftermarket exhaust.

Get the last of the Mohican 4.0 gts and make sure you get a manual. Amazing amazing cars and the right size which is the most important part (and they’re still new!)
literally never noticed a ticking noise from those cars on road or track, 992’s are complete trash for a sports car experience imo outside a gt3

With one 718 on the way already, decided to pass on it. I'll keep my powder dry for now and look at some other options.

Mine was night blue metallic with a chalk/slate blue interior. Gorgeous car.

Agreed. The 4.0L is definitely the one to have. The 4 Cylinder engine is nice, but not even close to the excitement of the Flat 6. OP would be wise to switch up his decision while he still can.
