Default GT4RS MY24 or MY25

I recently decided to potentially chase down a GT4RS allocation - being so close to the new MY, are there any reasons NOT to wait for MY25 allocations and to take one of the MY24 now??

I also want to try and do a PTS color - is there more chance of actually getting that confirmed in a color I want for MY25 vs taking one of the last slots available this year?

I doubt very much there are any PTS slots available for MY24, at least that's what I was told two weeks ago when my build locked.

MY24 are slightly less expensive than MY25.

Take what you can get now is my thoughts.
Then the PCV question , has the change actually been answered if the change is better or worse.
PTS would have been nice, but I didn't like the WP - not a fan of all the exposed CF

PTS is a gamble now and I doubt anyone not working at Porsche AG in the PTS department would be able to tell you. PTS allocations may become available more likely on MY25s (since getting PTS will normally delay your build by a couple of weeks or months), but unless your dealer can give you a MY25 slot with a late lock date, you will be better having an allocation than wait for one that will not materialize. I got my allocation in May 23 for a MY24 car, spec'ed it the way I would take it without PTS but told my SA (who I have worked with for 12 years) that I was interested in Euro Delivery, PTS and some CXX options in this order. Around early July, my SA secured me a PTS slot (one of 3 that were available at that time on the US West coast according to him) and I had a day to submit my color choice before he had to give up the slot for someone else. Since I had my color choice sorted out, I told him right away and we got the PTS slot secured. After that, I made some changes to the spec to align with the new color (and the need of having to use WP now). One important caveat to my situation: The configurator did not have PTS enabled in May/June 2023 until the slots became available.

So best to check with the dealer who has an allocation for you if it has the possibility to get it as PTS. The chance is higher for MY25 since they want to close MY24 builds asap. But then you need to make sure you can get an allocation.

Base price up 8K and PTS up 4K for MY25.

Work on the “chasing part” first…then the rest.

PTS done for MY24, also suspect any fallout MY24 allocated already locked or near lock

All PTS slots were taken for MY24 a while ago, with many of the later ones getting kicked back

Thank you all! I wonder if the dealer I have been talking to about an allocation is stretching the truth by indicating there was still a chance I could get PTS on their MY24 allocation.

they did say I should have my second choice non-PTS color picked out - but there was still a PTS chance

PTS for MY24 is for sure NO. Don't let the dealer confuses you. MY25 is doable, but you need to be in line when the order bank opens for PTS. It's available but not guaranteed you will get one depends on how much effort the dealer puts in.

would you grab a MY24, even if not PTS, and that way have the option of car staying or trading in on a latter model if could secure PTS - or not worth it and just hold out?

Well, depends on the following:

- How bad do you want it?
- What's the ADM if any, for MY24 and MY25?

Don't think about getting the MY24 now and trading in for MY25 PTS. The delta is definitely not worth it. If you can live with standard color, MY24 is just fine. Cheaper entry cost is a plus, especially when you're not guaranteed a PTS for MY25.

yeah, it’s a large ADM on the MY24 (30k) - but probably same or higher on a higher MSRP for MY25…

i guess the question is really how badly do i want the PTS? Because that would really be the only reason to roll the dice on a MY25 and get the privilege of paying a higher MSRP and ADM for essentially the same model.

I can’t imagine any 2024 slots not already locked at this point of the year. I think you will be well served seeking a 2025MY allocation with a good chance of PTS.
There doesn’t seem to be production issues on the 718s and Porsche seems to be sending out 4RS and SRS slots regularly.

2025 allocations are starting to come out, 2025 commission #'s will start with the letter "I" followed five x's.
