Default Need help in PNW/WC selling my '20 911C4S

Not sure if this allowed but let's try:

I'm in Anchorage, Alaska, have a very nice '20 992 C4S, 42K one owner miles, clean title. GT Silver, almost all options except Burmester, bought it new in Feb '20. Always garaged, always serviced at the Porsche dealer. Never crashed, no mechanical history. Clean car. I'm 72 years old, drive the car with vigor but I am not an idiot.

Here's my problem: I have a new car coming in 6-8 weeks so I need to sell this one. The Alaska market for these cars is pretty soft. I'm afraid if I just put an ad up on eBay or AutoTrader, potential buyers will take one look at my location and pass. I don't need the money tomorrow but I also don't need to own 2 911s for a year, either.

I can ship it to Seattle for $1500.... and then what? I can't be flying down there every time someone wants to take a look. I could, I suppose, sell it to a dealer but I would take a serious haircut..

KBB says it is worth $113K which seems a little high. OTOH, my new GTS is $185K...

Ideally, I could connect with someone in Seattle or Portland who could sell this car for me and I would incur any and all costs and pay this person appropriate money in cash.

If it matters, I am going down to Seattle on Wednesday evening for a couple of days so I could meet with someone while I am there.

Anybody have any hints or ideas?

You could try reaching out to these guys - they could buy the car, or maybe do consignment? They are a dealer/broker but specialize in Porsches.

Another option I just thought of, is to list it on here - good pictures, build sheet, etc., and explain the situation like you just did here. Might be surprised to find someone willing to buy it. Just a few recommendations to help kickstart … good luck!

At one time, Park Place in Bellevue was a viable place for consignment sales. Not sure about their status/reputation today, or even if they are still there, so you'd want to check.

Thanks, I'll check.

Park Place is still there, has 24 Porsches on their lot, 11 911s.

Have a '20 base Carrera showing, 12K miles at $105K.

I'll call them tomorrow.

Try getting it to Oregon to these guys for consignment.
https://www.grandprimotors.com

They move a LOT of high dollar 911s.

I should note, they just charge a flat fee once the car sells. Not a percentage.

I could do that easily, barge to Seattle and then 3 hour drive to Portland.

I may have something cooking here. Have 2 dealers that want to take a look. One is a low dollar gyppo but the other is big multi-line multi-state corp. Their 'instant offer' from KBB was in range so if they are anywhere close, I'll take it. We'll see how bad they beat me up in person. They are offering $103K which is fair but if that number melts to $90K, I'll keep looking.

Try plugging your vin into one of my local dealer’s portal. It’ll kick out an offer once you click your options.

I was just talking about this guy to someone from the area. He’s apparently well known in the vintage 911 community but also knows the modern stuff. Here’s where I found out about him, Jim:

That is a good source in the PDX metro area. I think they might have changed the flat fee thing (not certain of that) but it is certainly worth a look into. They usually have a pretty good turn over of stock too...

OP I'm in Seattle if you need assistance. My GTS should be arriving soon too. However, I also think it's too much of a liability to try to sell on behalf of someone.

Why aren't you trading in to your dealer? Is there no tax credit?

If you want to do Seattle, maybe consider:
Porsche North Seattle
Porsche Belleuve
Porsche Tacoma
AutoNation

I'm interested in what you end up doing as I'll likely be in a similar situation.

I assume you didn't order your new wheels from Swickard in Anchorage and thus have no interest in selling it to them. Given the debacle with my 992 where dealer kept the car for near 4 months (not going to go into it as it just gets my BP up) my 992's warranty is up next April. I'm thus considering my options and given the (single) dealership in this state and distance I'm considering selling my well equipped 2021 C4S for a '71 Cuda (383/426/440 MT...yes with an 8 track and a T-handle and brake lock).

Please post what you decide and GL

I was this close to sending my car out of state and trying to sell it there but took a shot in the dark and went to KBB, entered my data and got an "Instant Offer". I thought it was BS and I'd get whipsawed down but I went to the participating dealer, a big outfit with many stores and they made me an offer that was more, much more, than I expected. They started with the Instant Offer.

"We have to ship this car to our dealer in (PNW). That will cost $2K."

"Okay."

"All the service has been done. What about the brakes?"

"No."

"That's another $2K. Will you take $X?"

"Yes. I have a small loan, I can wire transfer the money."

"Don't worry about that, we can do it fast, just get me the loan number."

I got there this morning, expecting to get dinged for tires or doc fees or some nickel-dime crap but none of that.

They had everything prepared for my signature, cashier's check was ready in the proper amount.

I could not be happier.
