GT4: Are the standard gauges hard to read during the day?

Just picked up my GT4 on Tuesday and couldn't help but notice the tach was a bit hard to read during the day. Maybe it was the time of day or the canyons I was driving through - but I found the background color was muting the information I wanted to see.
Drove Angeles Crest last night and of course, at night it's fine. Was just wondering if it was just me or if anyone else finds the tach hard to read during the day?

Whew... I thought I was just getting old.
If I want to change the gauges, do I go OEM? Is that an expensive install? Never messed with anything like that on a car before. But considering my car is gonna see track time, I'd rather be able to read the tach clear as day.
I'll try the parking lights to see if that helps cure the problem during the day.

Hmm interesting, i never had an issue with my base gauges on my GT4. Is it the glare onto the glass thats making it hard to read?

I just coded to have dash lights on all the time. I have Crayon tach and was impossible to read in bright daylight.
Coding is:
FRONT END ELECTRONICS > Coding Value - Exterior Lights, DDL with marker light = Yes
Or
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER > Configuration - All Dials White = YES
FRONT END ELECTRONICS > Coding Value - Exterior Lighting - DDL with Position and Tail Light = YES
Keeps dial lights on and rear running lights, regardless of ambient light level.

Im assuming this is a stock photo bc your tach is in km/h here in the states..?
I’ve never taken notice to this as I have white dials all around, the image looks bright, and clear as day to me. I also rarely look at the tach for info, typically drive/shift by sound and feedback from the car.

If I could change one thing with the spec of my car it would be dial gauges in white for this very reason.
When the lighting is not favourable I turn the headlights on, then its easy to see.
