After slogging my way through a lot of the now 211 page "Has anyone done a CarPlay retrofit / Headunit replacement for 991.1" thread I posted this poll in the hopes that we could have a consensus on which was best. I'm surprised at only 6 votes to date and that 4 are for something else. You would think by the size of that thread that more people would have done this and would want to share their results. What is this something else? Inquiring minds want to know...
Thanks,
Martin
PS: I am leaning toward the Mr. 12 Volt solution.

Nice to see others pick up on my reason for posting this poll. I’m trying to figure out what or even if I should install one of the available solutions.
I wish the people who have selected something else would share what they chose.
I think the one person holding out for a Porsche OEM solution will be waiting forever. I cannot see them releasing anything and especially anything competitively priced.

Pairs up almost intstantly to your phone on unlocking the car. I use it with an iPhone 14 Pro Max. All CarPlay Apps work as expected on the PCM, including Apple and Google Maps, Waze, Digital Radio Apps, Zoom, Teams, iMessage etc.
It also has the added bonus that is has a comprehensive Graphic Equaliser built in that can if tuned properly improve the results quite dramatically from the OEM Bose system.
Also has a comprehensive echo cancellation tuning/adjustment for the phone which yeilds excellent phone quality if yo do the setup properly.
If your not tech minded get someone that is to fit it (or any other board) as its small and fiddly inside the PCM, but not overly difficult.
Comes with an optional microphone, but also works with the factory OEM mic, I went with the factory OEM as wanted the car to look original, works perfectly.

I'm currently looking at the GTA kit but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Their YouTube walk through is very nice. The retrofit thread gave me a huge headache, and I want to keep the oem look.

Add me to the list of folks who want an answer in 2024, not the 200 page thread from 4 years ago and addressing head unit replacement. I am just between the GTA kid and Mr. 12Volt. I’d like to pull the trigger shortly.
My whole goal is try and keep it as OEM as possible, so probably Mr. 12 Volt. I just want to know - when I turn the car on, if I left it on Apple CarPlay last time… what happens when it starts up again? Are we back in CarPlay or are we fiddling with buttons to get back there?

I just had the RDVFL PCM3.1 + rear camera install done on my 2014 C4S cab at my local audio shop.
its amazing and I’m loving it. As soon as I get in the car and turn it on, the system just goes to Apple CarPlay seamlessly within a second without me doing anything. When I put the car in reverse, the camera incorporates the OEM front/rear sensors into the screen. It’s awesome!
