Video clip of a rattle.
Hi folks, I have dealing with this rattle for 2 years. Car has spent 3-4 weeks in dealership and it seemed to quite down a bit but never went away. They have taken down the gas tank and put some padding around that. Only audible on rough roads and not the smooth pavement. Very very annoying . I was scared to leave my car for long as I was concerned if they dismantle more it may lead to newer problems. Have been there since the purchase.
seems to be coming from right from the center of the dash.
any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Is the fan / air conditioner turned off in this video?

Drifting
As its making the noise, run your hand along all the dashboard and console pieces and press and hold on each gently - does the noise go away as you press?

There was a known problem in some older Mercedes where the A/C fan made a similar noise. Might be worth driving with the fan and A/C completely turned off.

Tried that as well. Interesting thing is that sometimes it never comes, but when it starts, it can just pick a life if its own..

It may be worth pulling out the AC vents - they should have 3 little white rubber caps, 1 at the bottom and 2 at the top. The caps sit over the top of the retaining posts on the vent itself - i had something similar so i pulled the dash trim off 2 missing rubber caps (which I replaced) and then the ac vent which had 1 rubber isolator missing, replaced it and it was sorted! Frustrating!
