Default What should a standard battery connection look like?

Hi Guys,

Might be a bit of a weird one, has anyone got an un molested standard battery connection they can take a photo of please? My car had a battery kill switch fitted which i have removed, but the Crimp thats left on the end of the battery cable looks factory, but just has a hole in for a bolt, But i can't anywhere find the standard part which would clamp to the battery for this to bolt to.

All the photos i can see online look pretty 'got at' but I'm keen to put it back to stock and use the right parts. appreciate i can but something on ebay that will work, but my OCD cant handle that.

I've attached the only thing i can see online which looks like how i imagine it should (I appreciate this is an aftermarket battery, but the connection looks how i imagine they should)

Is anyone able to take some photos of theirs please, or shed some light on the subject please

Thanks in advance!

Are you just trying to use stock connectors? But if you are trying to go stock, then I guess it is no surprise to you that is not a stock battery nor fastener.

Take a pic of your setup so we can understand. Sounds like you just need a new cable.

Why not just order the OEM cables to satisfy the OCD in you? I think lots of us share in a level of OCD for our beloved 964's.

Thanks Gys, I'll grab a photo tonight of what i have got, I was looking at these exploded diagrams which show a battery Kill switch, i thought that was only for RS models, surely not every 964 has a battery isolator from factory ??
The cable im referring to is the two lives that come through from the rear of the car

The parts detail listing will identify which models come with which of the parts shown in the diagram.

When asking a question here, it's always a good idea to post which year and which variation of the 964 you refer to. Photos of your issue are also helpful.

Morning Guys, I grabbed a quick photo last night - as you can see the crimp with the two cables on looks factory, but i'm not sure what would go between this and the battery pole? and cant see anything listed in porsche parts. its almost like something would go around the battery pole, then have a stud or a bot hole for this crimp to bolt to...

Anyone able to shed any light please?

Car is a 1993 C4.

It's not factory!. You can see a "factory" termination in the background of your pics on the Bosch battery.

Be careful there !!! that resembles a positive terminal with those red wires , it looks as though someone was trying to obtain current for a radio or amplifier not the ground terminal ..
YMMV , Bert

Thats Definately not Factory that part mate, thats the little link Cable the other end of which is bolted to the bit I'm holding, modern cable, modern heat shrink, id guess thats no more than a few years old.

It is the positive side terminal Im looking at Guys, it had an aftermarket battery Kill in there which has been removed, but now i want to remove it properly and put it back to factory, just cant find the part i need

thanks

Take a look at the parts catalog. There are different positive battery leads depending on right-hand-drive vs. left-drive ("RL" or "LL" in Porsche nomenclature, respectively). I highlighted the part reference for the standard, non-RS, RHD positive lead.

International (non-USA) catalog link

BTW - if you're looking for just the positive terminal, Porsche does not sell it separately. They want you to buy the complete positive lead. Of course you could purchase a generic terminal and attach it to the existing cable.

Just cut that off and put a normal terminal on it from any store. It looks like someone was using a screw post prior.

I am very OCD when it comes to my 964 but for the price of the "starter cable" identified as #9 in the PET below, I would just crimp a new end onto your existing cable as suggested. Pelican wants over $700 and it looks like it would be a PIA to install.
