My C2S has the sportsdeisgn front fascia, so it has the painted lower lip. It's gotten pitted with rock chips and has some scrapes underneath (bought it used, prior owner did not PPF the car). Took it to a body shop (waiting on a couple of other quotes too) and was estimated ~$2300 (I'm based in the Bay Area) to just sand and repaint that lip. Body shop claims they have to remove the entire bumper and thereby also have to recalibrate the sensors. It's a Porsche certified place but that seems whacky to me -- isn't that front lip just a separate removable part?
Any thoughts on this quote? Any better ideas on repair options on the lip -- I.e. should I just try to touch it up with paint my self or get a new one at this point? Have some photos attached
Just rattle can it yourself. It's NOT HARD. All you need is a sunny day and two hours. I guarantee you that you won't notice it if you can operate a spray can without creating massive runs in the paint. Your material cost will be under $ 100. I've done at least a dozen times on my own vehicles. It works because its low, your eye cannot pick up well on reflectivity in the area and there are complex curves. I know younger people hire everything done, but trust me - this is not very difficult.
Buy your materials. You will need touch up paint in a car, a can of clear and a can of sandable primer. Some Mineral spirits to prep the area and de-grease it, then sandpaper grits. 150, 220. 400 and 800, a sheet of each. A roll of blue painter's tape.
Wipe the area with mineral spirits. Stand down the nits in the ABS plastic. They don't have to be perfectly smooth, just hit the high spots. Tape off the limit of where you want to stop painting, put tape on the sensors. Now get your primer out and spray to fill the nit. When dry, wet sand the primer. Repeat this until satisfied its smooth enough. The primer will fill the imperfections. Once its smooth, apply your color coats, usually three thin coats. When fully dry, Clear coat it with two light coats.
Let it cure for a week, then come back with the wet 800 grit and sand it, lots of water in the sanding. Finish with rubbing compound either by hand or machine buff. You now have a 95 % repair for a fraction of the cost plus the satisfaction of fixing something yourself.
If you really botch it up (highly doubtful) you are out $ 80 in materials and can take it to a body shop like you were first going to do anyways.
I guess trying to repair a soft plastic lip takes hours....makes no sense, buy a black replacement lip from suncoast for $250 and have it painted at any paint shop to match your color. Small lip like that may cost $250 to paint. If there is a small difference of new vs old paint you will never see it as its the small lip down ther with lots of edges, curves and shadows. The quote sure looks like they take the entire front bumper off and paint it, which makes no sense if there no more damage than we see on photos. So, either there is more to it or the shop has absolute no idea what they are doing.
You’re respraying it for that “damage”? Seriously, why bother. It’s just going to happen again.
Stop fretting over stuff like this and just enjoy the car. The lip is a sacrificial thing.

p.s I replaced my non-painted piece in 10 minutes... unscrew, unclip, remove, with "installation [is] the reverse of removal" (one of my a favorite quotes from my old Bentley & Haynes manuals). That quote is either a) shameless, or b) they have no idea WTF they are doing... run.
Hell NO!!!!!! I just had my AeroKit lip painted at Caliber Collision, the local Porsche authorized repair location, for under $350.00. There’s no way you should be paying thousands to repaint a lip.
Removal of the front lip requires ZERO recalibration. You can take it off yourself in 20 minutes and re-install it in that same amount of time; remove 6 TORX screws and pull it off. Remove the black under spoiler off the main lip; they come off together…….get the lip painted, snap on the under spoiler and reattach the lip to the car.
I look at the lip like I look at brakes. It’s a wear item. Have it painted for $350 like above, if you can’t find a place to do it for that just do it yourself. As long as it looks good nobody is going to care.
