Sick and tired of the 992 Garage Remote in the PCM? I was too...
Let me start by saying I hate, Hate, HATE the garage door remote solution in the 992 - It is the WORST way to implement it. If the PCM needs to startup, you are waiting for close to a minute just to hit the garage door button.
You go out to the car, get in and start it, then have to sit for a full minute (engine running) before you can open the door. Utterly, absolutely, idiotically stupid.
Then, if you pull out of the garage in reverse and want to close the door you are REQUIRED to put the car in PARK just to get the clicker view back (or close the camera view then good luck getting that back). WTF? Who thought this was a good idea? Just give me a damn hardware button.
So - I gave myself hardware buttons. (edit: No - this is not an April fools post) (edit2 - My wireless charger on the right side of the pdk shifter is NOT the button)
See if you can spot my new buttons inside my 992 - They are in plain sight in this picture.
Where's the rolling-code garage door opener? (LiftMaster, etc, etc) - Up to 4 buttons.

Interesting, so i have two 992 - one with the old pcm and the other with the new pcm, the new pcm i just use the diamond action button to open/close - not waiting for anything, it just works like a clicker. For the older PCM I do the same thing, but have to confirm on screen which is an extra step, granted it sometimes takes seemingly forever for the pcm to startup.
I do like the hardware button you have on the center console, curious though as to how you change the batteries and why not go with the overhead clip version?

Meh. For those of us that have the CORRECT transmission in our cars, that whole gizmo thing in the center looks foreign anyways.

Looks to be located around the cupholder? Nice work if so.

Unless you appropriated existing switchgear, one can hardly say they are in “plain sight”.

Here it is... The whole quadrant in yellow is a clickable button. Each corner of the pop-out cup-holder can now have button to tap.
It is fully functional with tactile click-type feedback.
This is prior to the button being permanently mounted.
Most remotes have 3 buttons, with 4 buttons actually on the PCB for the remote. I disassembled the remote and rewired it slightly so I could hook external buttons to it.
There is a gap under the cupholder assembly. This is where the PCB from the original clicker is mounted - Underneath and directly to the cupholder assembly.

That's pretty cool. But, seriously dude, what an annoying way to share the info.
