Default Question for 2022 Macan owners-12v outlets

For folks who have already taken delivery of a 2022 Macan, how many 12 volt outlets are there in the cabin and where? Thanks.

Answer - zero. That is right. Zero.

There is one in the rear hatch area.

I have a Base, so do not know if that is the same in other models.

Also, the spare is flat, so you need a compressor. The Base does not come with a compressor. The other models may.

Certainly unexpected.

It does come with 4 USB C ports though.

That is strange. Standard features listed are two 12 volt sockets, one in the center console and one in the hatch area. Without one in front, using a trickle charger or a radar detector is hard. Have you checked the passenger footwell?

It's under the center console cover (in front of the cup holders). Saw this on the other forum.

Man that is a relief. Can’t drive without my Uniden R7. And to hook up my Porsche charger.

That looks like a real pain for Uniden hookup with the wire coming right down the middle into the socket. I plan to hide all wires and hard wire it. Too bad there is not another hidden socket in the glove box or the passenger foot well.

It is certainly not as convenient as having a 12v socket in the passenger footwell like in my 911. I guess I will run it along the right side of the console. Most of the times, it will be me alone in the car.

I can confirm that’s where the 12v socket is hidden. It is switched with the ignition.

We have the thermal insulated glass…My Uniden R7 hardly works through the windshield. I moved up into the black dotted section as much as I could (I only have the big suction cup mount with me), that helped a little. Prior to the move, it would alert on the rear antenna when I was about 100 yards from a trooper running stationary radar. Moved slightly into the “dots” I get enough warning that it just might be barely enough.

Hopefully with the smaller mount the R7 can get into the dotted section better and actually work.

I don’t think it will work at all with a mirror mount

I'm also getting the acoustic glass option and I have been thinking about the radar detector. If it's not working perfectly at the dotted section, I'm afraid a bumper mounted one will be the only solution. How big is the dotted section?

It’s big enough that the I think the whole detector will “fit” in it when using the lower profile (traditional looking 2-suction cup) mount.

We bought the Macan for my mom, and I just road-tripped her back home in it, so you’ll have to find someone else to check.

I wouldn’t trust that you’ll get warning with my current setup.

With that mount it seems to be just below the dotted section. Wondering how it would perform a bit higher.

On the other hand, I'm considering just getting a Radenso RC M and installing it myself. Routing all the wires and getting to the bumpers will be a pain but I can be done.

The Uniden RADAR detectors come with a smaller mount, I just didn’t bring that one with me on the trip. I didn’t expect the performance issues and it didn’t seem logical to mount it behind all the black dots.

so, yes, I think it is possible to easily mount a portable detector up the the black dot area…but I can’t yet confirm if that makes it work well enough.

It's a real PIA to get the rubber up !

Just get a Mirror tap harness from Blendmount. Forget the cords dangling from your detector to the 12v outlet.
