Default What/Why would you sell your Turbo?

In the last few months, more and more people locally have been asking about my car, mainly friends who see my Instagram stories/pictures of how well I take care of it. Its nothing special, it has high miles (just passed 77k) and a crap load of mods. Not for a purist at all. Yet, every car show I go to I get constant compliments on it since it looks brand new, very much thanks to a good ceramic coating and a foam cannon/air blower I use. I was offered very close to what I bought it for 2 years ago, and have been playing with the idea of taking it this fall right before the 80k service is due.

Now, this is all speculation, I drive in normal mode most of the time but anytime I go into sport mode I unleash a new beast. I have been thinking about a 981 Boxter GTS to replace it since the 718 Spyder and will be driving down prices of the current Boxters, or sell and then save for a few months until I can put a heft down payment on a 991.2 GT3 stripper late this winter or early next year.

So just wondering, if you sold your Beast 2.0(the E39 M5 is the original Beast), what would you replace it with?

The way things are going at my place probably a minivan lol... It's hard to fit 3 kids in the Porsche....although it worked well when my wife was pregnant.

That hurts my soul. I sent a picture of a beautiful blacked out Macan Turbo with tow package and a thing saying "Baby up in the b*tch" to a lady friend saying if we ever date/have kids that's her mom car. Luckily shes a PA and makes more than me #sugarmama #militaryofficersgetpaidcrap

I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Limited EcoDiesel that I love and drive whenever it rains but I'm thinking of selling that for something smaller.

I prob won't sell my turbo, but I can count the number of times I have driven it since December one one hand. (I bought my 981 Cayman S in Dec.)

I truly enjoy driving the 981. My very first Porsche was a 987 Cayman, so the mid-engine platform has a special place in my heart..

Since I don't drive the turbo as often anymore, it makes the times that I do take it out that much more special as I forget the experience of the monster torque..

I have considered selling them both and moving to a GT3, but I like having the choice of whatever mood I'm in.

If someone out of the blue offered me an easy sale for close to what I paid, I'd probably go for it. I'd replace it with the same thing but lower miles/more interesting color, or a 964 Turbo or 930.

Currently thinking of trading mine in for a new Macan S for the wife. Went and test drove one on Saturday, it was pretty fast and the wife is in love with it. I still have my 996 cab with a 525 hp LS2, so I still can have my manual driving experience.

Recently transitioned to the 997 Turbo as my only car. It works fine but I can see it aging out of “daily driver” abilities at some point. Down time for repairs, aging rubbers, older tech etc could make it a PITA. I enjoy driving my cars as much as possible so if that means I need something newer it would probably be 991.2 S/T/GTS or a 991.1 Turbo if I can convince myself to go PDK. The GT3 sounds fun but I don’t think it would work for me. I need the rear seats and if I am going to get back into tracking cars I would have to just buy a real race car with all the safety equipment.

I have simple needs-2019 Shelby GT350R or GT350, (I returned the 2018 I purchased from CarMax), well-equipped 2011 GT3 6MT (last Mezger), and a Tesla with the Performance Package (I'm looking at one now). My TTS has become boring and it's approaching the time to move on.

I was actually going to sell mine this summer but the Mrs. pushed for me to keep it.

If I sell it, I probably won't replace it with anything as there are plenty of other toys in the garage.

Driving this thing in Seattle traffic / horrible roads just sucks. I like looking at it but I have zero desire to drive it knowing what is out there.

488 or 570s is tempting for me... though the low cost of Porsche ownership compared to the other two makes me think twice; especially when I don't get to drive it as much as I want to...

I've had a few fleeting thoughts about selling mine as well lately, but only due to the realization that I'm spending a bunch of money on a car that I could be saving / putting toward retirement.

I'd have to down size quite a bit money wise for it to be "Smart", otherwise I might as well keep it and get it paid off in the next few years. It would really be Hard to go backwards from this thing.

The other option is to down size my truck. Like the OP, I have a 2016 RAM 2500 Mega Cab Diesel I bought new. Rarely driven but love it. Still making payments on it also.

I'll likely keep both and just keep working OT to get them paid for sooner than later.

I sold my 997.1 Turbo ~ 3 years ago.
It was a good car, but I learned I prefer NA, so bought back my GT3.
No regrets

We have an F150 and a Pilot so it can just sit in the Garage so I can stare at it lol... My dad just picked up a 2019 Macan S on saturday. I got to drive it on the weekend, it's actually pretty sweet. #sugarmama is where it's at though! I'm trying to convince my wife we need to trade in the Pilot for a Cayenne...
