Just for fun, I researched how much money that would be today with inflation and the answer is only $28,018 in 2019 
Imagine being able to buy a new sweet little Porsche sportscar for that (with ED). That's about 10% of what they're asking before ADM (and not much more than the price of the Heritage Cosmetic Package).

And the counter-argument would be that while $3,000 has experienced significant inflation over 65 years, so has the performance, comfort, and safety of the Speedster...

Interesting thoughts from the Autoweek reviewer : he talks about the difference in rigidity between the roofless Speedster and the regular GT3. He also talks about the 991 Speedster in comparison to the Speedster before it...the 997 version.

Also funny that he says first time ITB's have been used on a road car when Porsche introduced it in the 911 over 50 years ago with fuel injection (and with 6 carb throttles before that)...
