Had a nice drive this morning. Toying with the idea of selling the 996, but it's hard to pull the trigger.

Yep, anytime you're thinking of selling it, just take it for a drive, it will cure that!

I am glad I do not have those thoughts and hope I never do
You have a beautiful specimen of a very clean looking 996!!!!! Sell it when it looks like pooo and you won't feel so bad.

I’d love to see the spec sheet on your car, as it’s the mirror image of mine from this viewpoint.

Just love the simplicity of the 996. No frills. Nothing that’s not needed. Light and nimble. I think you may regret it if you sell.

It’s a 99 C2
Boxster red full leather
LSD
KW v3 coil overs
Carrera II wheels
Fister exhaust

I’ve had it four years. Just getting the itch to try something different.

Ha, totally a clone of mine.

99 C2
Boxster Red full leather
LSD
M030 (sport suspension, now on Bilsteins)
Same wheels as yours
Sport seats

So cool. I love the car, even if the radiator fans started singing today (more like a non-stop squealing noise). Gotta get them checked and the faulty one exchanged.

Nice! Jealous of the seats. Still bummed I missed out on some local and (relatively) cheap red GT3 seats right after I got the car.

And my starter began squealing today

They must be twins, separated at birth, experiencing the same (or very similar) symptoms at the same time.
It’s almost spooky.

You need to see a doctor and get your head examined! Just kidding, these cars are the best bang for the buck in my opinion...Don't do something you might regret later.

6/98 build date on mine, how about yours?

No one has ever accused me of making good automotive choices. Past car history is here.

Yeah, see above. I've changed several other cars in the time I've owned this one. Quite unusual!

You should never do that! And if you do, don't show it to the SO!

Mainly, I just want something a bit more modern.

Some vehicles I'm considering:
2011 Boxster Spyder: looks so amazing! Friend has a Cayman R which is fabulous and got me thinking about these.
Alfa 4C: Super raw, carbon tub. Maybe too raw.
BMW M2: Maybe too mainstream. Great size, performance, and could DD.
Ford GT350: I haven't had a V8 (!) and I love mean exhaust sounds.

Clearly this is subjective, but I Turo’d A GT350 last month. Couldn’t wait to get back into my 996.
