Good article on Point-by
Saw this on Motorsports Enthusiast HPDE
I know for me as someone transitioning from PCA HPDE green group to yellow group, the cars come up from behind much faster.
This read lays out the differences between a fast car and a fast driver.

Excellent article! I realized early enough that regardless of your logic or excuses, if a car gets BACK on your bumper into the turns, then it's faster than you regardless of how much you pull away from it on the straights. Just let it pass you on the straight and try to learn from it in the turns before it disappears into the horizon.

Great stuff that, driving my non-S Mini, does hit close to home (at times ).......

We have a saying at our events - I think we stole it from a former region...
“If you suddenly see a car in your mirror that wasn’t there before, God didn’t put it there, they’re faster than you!”

I thought the slow/fast car/driver videos were pretty good.
But the video of the Challenger cars on track, can't be a real time speed, those views look like they come from an Indy car or are they real time with a fast driver?

I find this varies so much by group. I've never had anything but great pass-by etiquette at COTA, but on other local Austin tracks not so much. With a slightly under-powered Spyder compared to others, I ride a lot of bumpers in the turns, but often can't drag race someone to fully/safely pass them if they are drag-racing me in the straights.
Seems simple - someone on your bumper as you come out of the twisties, don't step on it until they are comfortably on their way in front of you.
