New Battery
Nothing like dropping in a new battery and having the car fire loud and proud a heartbeat after turning the key. Knew the old battery was losing its punch, just didn't realize by how much.

How was the ground cable? Didn't like the look of mine so I swapped it, also chose a AGM battery. I made sure I wrote a date on the battery when I installed so I can quickly check how old it is for the future.

Yes, fitted the vent tube - the new Interstate versions let you choose either the left or right side of the battery to run the vent tube which is handy.
My ground cable looked good, but went through and cleaned and tightened all the grounds in that area while I had everything opened up.

AGM isn't suitable for our cars. The newer cars with higher circuit voltage need them and the alternator put out higher voltages as well. Our older style system won't charge AGM's fully. I assume in the long run, the battery will die early.
My wife's AMG just needed 2 new AGM's and I had inquired about using standard lead acid batteries instead. They told me quickly that standard batteries would frequently get overcharged, internally kind of boil and also die early.
Would be nice to read about your experience with AGM's over time.

My latest vehicles came with an AGM...not by choice. My 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS came with an AGM and so did my 2016 BMW R1200 GS Adventure.
The trouble with an AGM is you cannot maintain them. I highly doubt I will get my usual 15+ years out of them as I have with my factory installed lead acid batteries in my previous vehicles. We'll see.

EDIT: turns out I didn't have excessive current draw, so I have no explanation for all the dead AGM batteries other than they just don't work well in our cars.

Not sure exactly how they leak, but they can and do. The only time I ever tried a lead acid battery, it leaked after the first track day. I don't recall if it was a failed or unattached vent tube or what, but I do recall a LOT of scrubbing with baking soda afterwards. Ditched that battery right away. Not worth it. Sure AGM sucks, but at least they don't leak.
