Are 951 prices softening a bit?
Noticed some recent sales of good, low mileage cars not fetching what they did a year ago. Kept my eye on this auction of a low mile Silver Rose and it just didn’t meet reserve at $28.2k.
It seems like prices are either softening, or demand has wained, thoughts.

Did you watch the video on that silver rose car? It sounded horrible, half the problem with that car is the presentation.
As for your original question, I don't know the answer. I hope not, I still think these cars are way under valued.

1) people are realizing that a really nice 951 is still a 30-year old quirky beast and isn't really worth $30k.
2) it's wintertime so folks tend to hibernate rather than spend on stuff...house sales slow down in winter too (except maybe in Palm Beach )
2B) wait til spring comes out and people get the itch for a cool car with a giant sunroof.

I've been in the market looking for the right one for a while, and I think the opposite is happening--people with beat high mileage cars think they are worth high teens--I can't seem to find a decent one for less than $20-$25k. Inventory is definitely low this time of year. More specifically I'm looking for an '86 with Fuchs and LSD, an '88s, or an '89. Sport seats would be a nice to have...I'm pretty much giving up until the spring. Most of the cars I've seen are low option fairly ordinary ones not in great shape.
Honestly, as prices push towards $30k, I'm looking at '09+ Cayman S at that point. I miss my '08, and it was a fantastic car! As much as I love the 951's, there are better cars out there when you start spending that kind of money.

Which brings me to the question, why are the same vintage 911s so much? I have driven several and can honestly say my 951 outperforms it in every way. I love 911s but for what people want for them, give me two 951s please.

Classic Porsche styling, air cooled pedigree and a racing heritage that a 944 can only dream about....but I agree about the outperformance and I sometimes wish the 944 secret never got out.

The Silver Rose on ebay has been for sale for at least 18 months from that dealer, and they've recently put it on ebay. I called about it a long time ago, it's on consignment. It's listed at $55K I believe on their website.
