courtesy notice: ship delay ONYX ARROW
Hey guys and one or two gals,
Just got notice that the Onyx Arrow (carrying a couple cool cars for my store like a lizard RS and a Turbo S Cab) had a mechanical issue and will not reach the west coast before the end of the year. I of course assumed it was an iceberg (insert romaine lettuce joke) but just some drivetrain stuff (insert dieselgate joke)
So, looks like january for all of us with sweet Porsches on that vehicle. It was supposed to land in Benecia on the 23rd which would have given us a chance to PDI and retail a few more cars before the end of the year. oh well!

Been watching this vessel for a client of mine, looks like its left Halifax (repairs done?) https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...sel:ONYX_ARROW
Also, we found this via google https://blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca/2018/12/onyx-arrow-at-pier-9.html
I love the internet...

Thanks CJ, it was repaired and left Halifax and docked in NYC today. I was also tracking in and it got caught in that bad storm 2 weeks ago off the coast of Nova Scotia. Not sure if that was the cause for repair but it was in 24-30ft waves for quite a while... Here are a couple screen shots of where it was during the storm, the second pic shows where Onyx was on Nov 29th. At least it's on its way now, hopefully the cars are all ok inside.

The last port of call was Port Newark, NJ
The Onyx Arrow arrived there at 10:30 am Eastern, yesterday.
Suppose to arrive in Brunswick this Friday, as someone posted above.
I think its another 1600 nautical miles from Brunswick to the Port of Cristobal which is the entrance to the Panama Canal.

By the way, there's a great new restaurant that opened up right on the water in Benicia called Bella Siena.

You can watch the Onyx Arrow come through the Carquinez Straits and into port.

Most maratime sites only show next port estimates. Those boats cover about 400 miles a day and since it's about 1600 miles from GA to Panama canal it should be about 4 days. Wait time to get into the Canal can vary a lot depending on traffic volume. Not sure how many other stops it has between but sometime early to mid January to arrive in San Diego is most likely.
