Default Nevada registration

I'm honest about registering my car with the State of NV. I am getting screwed by the DMV. According to Nevada statute 371.050 options and extras are not to be used in the valuation. So the RS has a base MSRP of $187,500 which is the amount the car should be valued for taxation purposes. However my Options bring my MSRP to 213K including the gas guzzler tax.
I tried giving DMV the window sticker only to be told that's not proof of the options. I'm attaching the Nevada statute regarding valuation for taxation purposes.
Any suggestions how to get DMV to comply with the statute ?
While I don't condone the Montana scam, I'm trying to be honest and the DMV is not complying with the written law.
Any lawyers here or anyone having experience dealing with the Nevada DMV ?
Thanks

I wouldn't stress about it too much. In all honesty you guys have it pretty good in Nevada not like crappy *** Seattle where we have to pay an annual car registration fee of around $2K a year per car for another transportation tax they passed, on top of a 10.1% sales tax. I wouldn't think about doing the Montana LLC a lot can go sideways there if you get pulled over or in an accident and if the state or county decides they want to dive into further.

I would never do a Montana LLC
However my current annual registration is $3,700. If DMV properly valued my RS the annual tax would be $3,300
I only want to be taxed on the correct valuation. The State is not following the statute. Dunno what recourse I have.

Believe me I have had my fair share of dealing with the morons at the city or state level for different things. What I have concluded from years of ultimately wasting my time is that they are going to do what they want to do and find a way to justify it. You have to assume that whatever makes the least amount of sense and costs the most amount of money is the route they are going to take. I've probably suffered from elevated blood pressure trying to make sense of the things they do. I've recently given up to conserve my energy and health.

Does the DMV have an ombudsman or an appeal process?

I ran into the same issue here in Las Vegas. Tried to have them use the base msrp and it was a lost cause. They wouldn’t have it any other way so after a couple hours of going back and forth with the managers I just gave in and paid the piper.

By options and extras don’t they mean dealer add-ons like undercarriage coating, clear bra, etc., not manufacturer original “options”?

My NV registration taxes calculated off of my Total Price as well for the RS. They were not able to do anything over the phone and told me to go into my local DMV office. I tried the registration fee estimator on the NV DMV website and if I put in my VIN # it pulls up the Total Price. I'll plan on heading to my local office in a few weeks, so I'll check on this then as well. Let me know if you have any luck till then.

No state income tax in NV so unfortunately they are going to get it from somewhere.

I'll trade you my Kalifornia state income tax bill for your RS registration fees...

this is the way i interpret it. the MSRP if the manufacturer final price with their options. good try though.

DMV = Government = No common sense will prevail.
Take the path of least resistance.

Yup. MSRP is the total at the bottom of the window sticker, not the base price of the car.

Which is good for those paying over MSRP...here in CA, tax and registration is based on the transaction price.
