Default Carrera T......RWS and Bi-Xenon question

Hi all,

Looking at a new T but it has Rear Wheel Steering (470) and the Bi-Xenon lights (603). I prefer that it had the LED option and I don't know much about the RWS option, very little talk about it here at Rennlist.

Any input or opinions greatly appreciated

Thx

Lots of forum posts on RAS (Rear Axle Steering). Take a look threw them. I am definitely in the +RAS camp as it makes the car feel a little smaller - like the older 911s. Also, while LED is better, the bi-Xenons are really good and I doubt you would have any complaints.

Take a look at the 2 - T-specific threads here in the 911 forum.

I put a general post together for the T. It has links to other specific posts. There have been several (half dozen) recently from folks looking to lock in order with the same RAS question (but I can’t keep up adding links on each one). I’ll do you a favor and say that everyone who has RAS loves it, and those that don’t seem to have perfectly nimble cars. 75%+ seem to want RAS. The common thread is that RAS is only available in the base model if you get the T. So get it. Others (like me) are trying to reduce complexity/cost and the (unlikely) chance of maintenance issues.

Thanks guys, strange because I did a search for the RWS and nothing showed up.

So...The RWS seems to be fairly well regarded by most. The lack of LED lights on this particular T is a bummer though. My night vision is horrible and every little bit of help I can get with brighter lights is welcome. Probably have to pass on this T and keep looking.

Thanks so much

When the Porsche factory team was doing their 991.2 track testing on the Nordschleife, they found that just the addition of RAS and PDCC options resulted in a 30 second lap time improvement! The 991.2 GTS with those options turned a sub 7:24 on the Nordschleife. Faster than the 991.1 GT3!!
For your enjoyment -

I have LED.. But, I am failing to remember if I've driven at night yet. :-)

Why not order a new one and get exactly what you want?

I vote for the RWS - if you drive one with it you will know why. In regards to the headlights I went for the LEDs for looks only (Black outer ring) since I think that both put out enough light.

Get RAS, skip the LEDs, not worth the weight or the price ...

I was curious if anyone had every confirmed the LEDs were heavier than the HIDs? Seems counter-intuitive from what I know about both technologies.

This is the second time someone has said the LED's weight more! Anyone know the weight difference between the 2 types?

In Porsche lingo, it's Rear Axle Steering - RAS -
it's not RWS.
And as I mentioned in another thread, just the addition of RAS and PDCC resulted in a lap time improvement of 30 seconds on the Nordschleife.

Hey guys....Thanks for all your input, greatly appreciated as always even though my profile shows like 9 posts or something....I was a previous member here years back but closed my account.

So regarding this T I'm looking at, I'll be speaking with the dealer in the next couple weeks and see where we're at and if we can put a deal together.

Thanks again
