RE71R or Cup 2?

RE71R or Cup 2?
Buying new track tires for my 2015 C2S. Looking at RE71R and Cup 2s. I run in the intermediate groups at my DEs. Cup2s are $350 more expensive than RE71Rs. Are they worth the difference in $ or should I pocket the $ and put it towards my next set of brake pads? Thanks guys , really appreciate the input.

I switched from the SC 2's to the RE71R's about 5 sets of tires ago. Never looked back.
The Michelins may last a bit longer, but for me, the grip with the RE71R's is a lot more than the Cup 2's.
I love mine and will never switch back.

Have heard nothing but good things about the RE71Rs. I run Cup 2s only because they don’t make the 71R in GT3 OEM sizes.

Go with the RE71R and pocket the difference. Do not run past 34psi hot, as they get greasy. Most prefer to run at 32psi for optimal results.
The CUP2 is an excellent tire, but it has a very small peak operating window. After that, they don't give the same feedback and drop off a little, but stay consistent for quite a while.

If there is the potential for HPDE's in the rain, definitely get the Bridgestones. If you are the type of driver who only goes out on a dry track, I think I'd pick the Michelin. I have a set of RE71R's. They replaced the OE Pirelli PZero. My logger malfunctioned my last time at the track so I don't have actual lap times to compare, but the butt dyno suggested RE71R's are no faster than the PZero. I'll be back at the track in a couple weeks. Hopefully the logger works and I can compare objectively.

I like to start at 26 and after a couple laps, I'm usually right in that 34 psi sweet spot.
Good call on the pressures.

....just grateful they're available--they were unobtanium from May 'til August in my size; had to use the new Direzzas instead. 1.5sec/lap slower

For the track RE71r is a couple seconds faster (at COTA in a GT4) and wears better. It's really easy to destroy a set of cup 2s if overdriving the car's grip. Cup2s are better on the street. Cup2 is closer to a Super Sport, and RE71 is closer to an NT01 from a civility standpoint.
