Is that the best sound clip? Anything from inside the car at WOT?

I have this exhaust on my 996 with cross over cats and ceramic coated headers. It is certainly loud. There is drone between 2-2700 rpm. Above 3k especially when accelerating it does sound glorious. My car is just a commuter and not a track car. I haven't felt any extra power so I would guess that is only in the upper reaches of the rpm range.

One side effect to the noise is it forces me to keep it above 3k rpm's. I never had the fister mod to compare.

If I get a chance I might be able to come up with an interior recording. For reference I have to keep the factory radio at +4-5 on the volume to hear it over the exhaust. Conversation takes a bit louder talking that normal and at certain rpm's if you aren't facing the passenger a bit they won't hear you talk.

I never had any drone when I had Maxflo in my 996 with 200 cell cats so its surprising to me you have it....what are the cross over cats you are using. Prior to Maxflo I did have FS super cups which did drone for me in the 2500-3000 range....with those I had the same problem....always drove above 3K. Never though with Maxflo….I feel its a great street/track compromise for that reason.

You are correct. Just checked my old order stuff and I do have the SuperCup exhaust. Guess I need to keep better track of my purchases

Sounds like "Maxflow" is the way to go then?

I currently have a Dundon Custom Exhaust for my car but I built it primarily for the track which sounds awesome and Loud! However, if I would make the car more of a daily driver/street I would go back to Maxflo. I have tried many exhaust systems and they don't **** my wife (and the neighbors) off in the morning. They sound reasonable, are lighter, and maybe give a bit of power. It is a good product...But as you know sound is a personal preference so you have to experiment.

Here is a video (sorry for the quality, customer video)

Here is another video of high speed passes with the Maxflo

The Maxflo is way more of a daily driver system, gives you the exhaust tone that the car should have sounded like. Take a look and let me know what you think!!!

I think that customer has a pretty bad low rpm knock and may want to have his engine borescoped.

I have the Supercup system on my 99' and could not be happier. The quality is great, and the attention to detail on the system including the packaging was beyond normal product purchasing. The sound is what you expect from a sports car, the idle and day to day driving has a fantastic sound, when you lay into the throttle, everyone knows it. It is definitely louder than the Maxflo, but not straight pipe loud.

Here are some more sound clips of a customer's 996 that came in for Maxflo Mufflers and Sport Headers! Truly the best combination for power and sound gains!

What are your must-have mods?
