Factory houndstooth — $3500 or $8500?
My SA is telling me that to add just houndstooth LWB inserts is going to require full custom seats and will be around $8500 to do. This is what Porsche Exclusive is telling him.
I’ve heard of several Rennlisters with the houndstooth added for $3550 I think, without having to specify full custom seats.
No way I’d do $8500 because I don’t want anything else custom like colored leather or piping. The only reason I’d splurge and pay $3550 is because it is factory and will be on the window sticker. But even that is pushing it.
Anyone have any recent experience with this? I’m probably better off sending Garry at Classic FX a message, or even going with Exclusive Option. Both are a lot cheaper but I worry about durability and look.

you could once get it for 3500 for center inserts only. however, more recently, this option is gone from what I've been hearing. so you are stuck coughing up 8500

easy too swap out, 30 min. Just watch out for the weight sensor attachments in the passsenger side cushin. Cheap pieces of plastic.

Thanks for the suggestions and pics. I have sent Garry a message as well as P1 Designs in Dallas and will inquire with Crazy Eddie also; he's doing a set of bolster covers for me. I like Garry's prices and the look is great.

I can confirm it's now $8,500--faced same issue with my October build.
Previously, you were able to just spec the inserts for $3,500. For whatever reason, now you have to order entire customized seats for $8,500. I suppose on the plus side, you get to spec other changes for that price (piping. leather/alcantara colors, other inserts, etc.). The only thing not included are painted harness passthroughs, which are another $1,500-2,000 if I recall.

I "used" Garry and Ed for my aftermarket inserts... Pepita from Gerry and tartan from Ed... Very happy with the results and prices... Around 600 euro shipped

Also worth noting, the OEM inserts are a black/silver houndstooth made of synthetic fibers. Vintage pepita and most of the aftermarket options going after the look are a black/white check made of wool or wool blend.
The look and vibe are very different. I ultimately went with the OEM option and paid the substantial premium for it because it is much more modern and technical looking, which I think better suits the winged GT3. The traditional pepita even looks a little odd in a Touring--the rest of the interior is hyper-modern even if the car is trying to capture some level of nostalgia.

He does quite a bit of custom unique patterns/work with his covers.
